I thought the question was Frontier or regional? Why are you so angry? Everyone has an airline that works for them for their goals, QOL, money, type aircraft, whatever it is...

I live in an F9 base and enjoy doing day trips or 2 day trips and being home more. I get on a (for the most part) new Airbus, turn left, do my job and go home. Not really interested in living in a legacy base or moving. You might love living/commuting to a legacy base and doing 4 day trips. That's cool too.

If someone really thinks they'd be better off going to a regional with a "flow" go right ahead. I think you'll be updating apps to get out sooner than you think.

I did. Once I got here my life got so good so fast I stopped applying at legacies. It’s not the case with everybody but for the things that matter to my family and I the boxes are ticked.

they’ve been updated, wholly owned is always a better option to have then not to have in a lot of people opinions. Not the old days where you have to grind out 8-12 years at a regional to get to a major. 1-3 years and you’re off to a legacy if that’s your desire. If you wanna live in base in FL then a low cost is probably your best best but if you’re young and worst case scenario you have a guaranteed job at a legacy then that’s a much safer bet on a career. Regionals paying more too right now, and sooner upgrades. Republic and the United regionals are the worst. Would take frontier over them any day.

I never said that did I? I said Frontier is better than a regional. I’m at a Legacy currently but also former Frontier and former AA wholly owned before that. But I would have been perfectly happy at Frontier had this opportunity not presented itself.

Guaranteed job at a legacy is one of the funniest things I’ve read on APC in a while.

I have a friend who’d like some advice/guidance. He’s a Frontier Cadet whom has met his minimums. Recruiters are saying there is about a 2-4 month wait for an F9 class. He also has a mid-june class date with Endeavor.

Pretty much, he’s wondering if Frontier is worth the 1-3 month wait?(Assuming the recruiters date are accurate).

He plans on moving in base, so commuting isn’t a factor.

What are some things he should consider when making this decision?

Thanks in advance!
LOL, when I saw this thread title I thought another regional was buying frontier again.

As someone who is nearing there TT (should finish end of next month) and meet all the ATP min requirements w/ an offer at a regional I was suggested to apply to Frontier today by a colleague as they were allegedly hiring below the requirements they are showing on airline apps. Is this true? It seems like a no brainer to skip the regional "purgatory" as someone put it but I want to make sure I am not ****ing into the wind here. I'd much prefer to do that even if it required me to pay for my ATP out of pocket. Just looking for some guidance here (I.E. do I just send in an application as is or am I way off base and should get some 121 time.)

Yes apply. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot and fall for the traditional ideologies of going to a regional. In my interview class there was a women with 1500 hours and got hired right from instructing. It’s worth taking the shot. Even if you aren’t sure you want to stay the reality is it may be a place you enjoy and end up wanting to stay at. Not to mention the pay is better the QOL is better and you’re getting a bus type that is way more valuable in the long term then going to any regional. Don’t fall into the trap of chasing a flow at a regional that could end tomorrow. So no matter what your long term goals are it is 100% a better option than a regional. It shouldn’t even be a question.

If you apply via the traditional pathway, you would need to have an ATP in hand in order to hear back from Frontier. There is an option to apply as a cadet though, which would pay for your ATP-CTP. You would also not be out of pocket for the ATP checkride as that is done as part of the process. The catch is you would have to sign a 3 year commitment to Frontier as a cadet. What seems to be quite popular among our new hires is going to a regional for 6 or so months then coming here.
