I assume no one is taking the bonus if they are all leaving so quickly?

Very Sad. My 3-4 yr FO’s who always wanted to make a career here are now putting apps out. When I ask why, they tell me it’s not the money. They say, “They just can’t work for a company who has such little respect for its customers and employees anymore” Not quite sure how this model keeps good people anymore.I just know we need good people to be successful in the future. I hope those above can figure out how to balance low cost with maintaining a respectful and positive environment for the passengers and employees.

I like how this is in the place your bets thread. Company has clearly placed their bets. Let’s see if it pays off.

I too want to make this my career, but the fact I am forced to "tune out the noise" when I am at work and just get in the cockpit and fly while our contract gate agents treat people like crap, company treats people like crap, and the last line of defense is supposed to be "smile more"? thats horrific... Im basically giving myself another year to see what happens, probably until the next contract, if we get a subpar contract or things don't change around here, I will be gone as well. I am more than happy to give my next 25 years to another company.

I want to enjoy this place, all my friends say it is a great model and company message. But then say the only thing holding it back is how the gate agents treat people and how the company treats people. Southwest was successful for a reason, now look what has happened to them. All of these other airlines are successful because they treat AT LEAST their passengers well. But when you treat both passengers and employees badly. Im not sure, but it surely isn't "delivering low fares done right.".

Man I could not agree more. This is exactly what I am hearing from FO's and captains and exactly the way I feel about our airline. We just lost an 8 year Captain to United because if the environment we work in as you describe, and the fact that BL opened a section 19 on him that the chief pilot's told him afterwards should not have been opened. BL does things like that to make a point and brush us all back so we don't call in sick, or in this captains case refuse to be deadheaded after timing out because he had an inflight medical emergency on his second to last leg which required him to rapidly descend into one of the largest airports in the country as a lifeguard flight, whipped the plane around and got to his destination relatively on time considering the circumstances. We work for an airline that does not care about it's customers, and does NOT care about us. We are just pieces in a game to be pushed around on a board, the proof is in the way we are treated by upper management. Most of our base CP's are cool AF (excluding DEN obviously) but above that we are viewed as rickshaw wallahs. As airline pilots we have to hold ourselves to a high standard to execute our duties competently and safely, yet we are required to do that in an completely unprofessional environment filled with unhappy customers and contract employee's on the ramp and at the gate who - with some exceptions - could give a sh*t about their job or our customers. Combined with upper management's "let them eat cake" attitude towards the pilot group the dichotomy is just too broad and in this hiring environment entenable. I do not see how we could possibly grow as planned unless management makes some massive changes - just hold your breath on that. I had heard they were going to do something in that direction awhile back but... nada. Oh, don't forget we get the pleasure of learning LIDO CHARTS! That's going to work our great for our green on green crews going into challenging airports in the dark of night down in Central America after being called off of reserve who have never flown in that part of the world in their lives before, navigating with charts that they took an online course to learn how to use. Does that even sound rational? No, it does not.

Bro, just leave now. You know how seniority works.

We are going to end up with a subpar contract. If you waiting to see if we end up with a Delta like contract, don't bother waiting. Leave now. Its going to take 3 years and it's not going to be Delta/AA rates.
