Frontier question
 

I am interested in applying to fly for Frontier. What is the current status of that carrier? From what I can read here, Frontier is owned by a new investor group that purchased Republic Airways Holdings. This would also include Republic and Chautauqua Airlines and Shuttle America. The company info here also indicates that there is a single seniority list.

I have recently heard that Frontier was sold but would like to find out the real scoop. Will an applicant be hired at Frontier and possibly moved somewhere else?

Any information would be very welcome.

Yes, and under the info on this site, that seems to indicate that they also own the others as well.

Is Frontier a separate entity at this time? The info page seems to indicate a lot of airplanes are on order by RAH.

Also, what's it like there? The other Frontier thread has about one useful post every three or four pages with most of the content focused on who is worthy to apply and what is or is not a major airline.

Looking for real information, not just an insult slinging match.

Frontier was previously purchased by Republic in 2008 when we were in bankruptcy. The purchase of Frontier (F9) was closed in December to Indigo Partners (former majority owners in Spirit, plus many other airlines, and headed by Bill Franke, formerly CEO of America West). F9 pilots are a seperate pilot group. There is documented IMSL (Integrated Master Seniority List) from the period of time that Frontier pilots were considered under the same roof as the Republic regional pilots, but no transfer of pilots into F9 pilot group has ever been awarded from this list; however it's an ongoing, ridiculous, and long story. Hopefully soon the NMB will grant F9 single carrier status and the existing Teamster union representation will be thrown out and we can stop talking about it.

The disputed facts are currently being argued in two separate venues. Aribitrator Dana Eischen is deciding if Frontier Airlines Inc has the right to hire off the street vs filling vacancies via the IMSL.

The NMB is deciding if Frontier is in fact a separate system.

Common sense dictates that none of these issues should really be disputed, but common sense is not a virtue of one of the parties involved. If you are interested you should apply and try your best to pass the interview. Frontier is growing and more than likely an attractive dance partner for future ULCC consolidation. If I was qualified I would definitely look at the legacies first but F9 isn't a bad place to work and develop your future career options.

I think this may be driving the OP's confusion:

The APC profile for F9 reads:

"•Indigo Partners LLC. now owns Frontier Airlines after completing the purchase of Republic Airways Holdings."

Shouldn't it instead read "from Republic Airways Holdings?"

I've heard Frontier has a training contract (12 months?), but their APC page doesn't mention it. Any truth to that?

Yes there is a training contract. It's 12 months or 24 months. I can't remember which exactly.

I think they may have silently done away with the training contract.
