Let's talk about Frontier, the sinking ship.

First of all, to clear the air... I'd like to hear from all the doom & gloom pilots. The sinking ship advocates that wished nothing but ill will against F9. We're still here, stronger & united as ever. I thought we were going away according to the junior Einstein's on this forum? We want to hear from you know-it-all wannabe's. Your a-matter-of-fact, know-it-all statements, your probationary wisdom. Your statements aren't forgortten & we know whom a lot of you are. So, let's hear from you and how correct you were. It's like dealing with a 12 year old posting on this forum.

Let's get on with it, shall we

Firsttimeflyer 01-15-2015 05:55 PM

What stemmed this little outburst?

ron kent 01-15-2015 06:10 PM

Frontier is still in business?

MadDolly 01-15-2015 06:16 PM

Nothing really, I'd just like to hear from the know-it-all's that fought tooth and nail until the bitter end, slamming F9 & childish name calling to get their incorrect point across. I find it funny how quiet they are, selfless & bitter in their own self distain. We all don't know as much as we think we do in this business. We're all in this together. Many have better jobs, due to luck or smarter choices. In the end, we are all pilots & proud of what we do despite our work rules or pay.

MadDolly 01-15-2015 06:19 PM

Yup still in business... & Probably doing business right next to you soon for quite a bit less ;)

Lobaeux 01-15-2015 06:34 PM

Okay, I'll bite.
No ill will at all towards Frontier, but I don't see any way Frontier can survive long term. With the number of order slots with Frontier's name on them, a relatively cheap labor force and a brand name with a following, Frontier is ripe for the taking. It won't be long before Frontier is merged, and my guess is with JetBlue. This would give JetBlue a lot more exposure to the central part of the United States, a ready infusion of much needed Airbus orders and a pilot group they can easily fold into JetBlue.
I wouldn't anticipate a lot of complaints from regulators seeing as how JetBlue isn't one of the top four airlines, Frontier doesn't hold a dominant position in any market and it's currently a privately held company.
Just my crystal ball guess, no expertise or inside knowledge, just a guess.
We're not done with the mergers.

Uh oh. Frontier is watching all of us!

shoelu 01-15-2015 06:43 PM

We are all a few management missteps away, a financial meltdown away, a middle east war away or a successful terror attack away from liquidation. Frontier is no different. If you were searching for stability, you chose the wrong profession.

Your only the cheapest until your not. Make room for ALG or the new Eastern, etc

Frontier narrowly escaped being overtaken and run like a regional. Now they will have to compete with spirit, alg and all the other lcc's for business.

Aero1900 01-15-2015 07:18 PM

I'm really not sure what the op is talking about.

Frontier has had a turbulent past. Been through bankruptcy, nearly bought by swa, owned by republic, and now owned by indigo. We have converted into an ulcc, and are making more money than ever before. We've made over 100 million this year. We face a new market. Ulcc in the US is still a pretty new concept to most folks. It's hard to tell, but I think the Ulcc model will do well in the US. Wal-Mart sure has.

A frontier merger with jet blue seems unlikely to me. A merger with spirit seems way more likely.

Frontiers making real money for the first time ever. We have lots of planes on order. We also face stiff ulcc competition (CLE)

We are just now starting to see how the big airlines are reacting to the ulcc model. Who knows what the future holds? They sure couldn't stop the growth of southwest, and I doubt they will stop the growth of the ulcc. Frontier might be ripe to be bought out by a big guy, or merge with spirit, but I agree that frontier is unlikely to be a stand alone airline in twenty years.

Frontier is trying to beat swa at their own game. But a cheaper guy could always be right behind... Spirit does have slightly lower costs than us.

You proud of that?

I don't know about you, but I came here to MAKE MONEY!

Perhaps you should change your screen name to Flogging Molly, that's what is seems you are more interested in.

The legacies were in horrible financial shape, they couldn't afford to fight SWA, it's diferent this time.........I think, lol

It's pretty hard to make billions of dollars with only 55 or so 319/320s.

I think it was all about the fuel hedges SWA had.

Packrat 01-16-2015 05:53 AM

I think an F9/Spirit combo is possible. Less likely is F9/B6.

That's not the point. The point is that even the worst-ran airlines are making money hand-over-fist right now and the fact that Frontier isn't crashing and burning doesn't exactly make them some sort of industry anomaly and it sure as hell doesn't make the pilot group look like genius prognosticators.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that F9 was able to rid itself of Bedford and the IBT and is reportedly (since there's no way to verify) doing well, I'm merely pointing out the irony of a troll referring to others as such, and that in this current environment, an airline CEO can't fall out of bed without turning a profit.

Name Calling?? why don't you go back in history and read what some of you all had to say about Republic pilots. Truthfully I lost tremendous respect for F9 pilots after that abortion of a merger. So since were all in this together maybe you and a few others should go apologize for the name calling, multiple middle fingers I saw taxiing, denied jumpseats and cold attitudes in the crew room.

Its funny now that I changed my uniform y'all couldn't be nicer to me......its like I put on an invisibility cloak or something.

Right on man! You should go back to all the F9/RAH posts, gather all the negative things that were said about F9 (make sure you ignore all the things that were said against RAH pilots) and publish them on an anonymous forum for all the world to see! That'll show 'em!

Then maybe you can print a copy of that document and insert it into your third point of contact, because I assure you no one with half a brain cares.

Just an opinion - you were 'saved' by an investment group, just as Spirit was years ago. There's plenty of room for ULC's.

ipdanno 01-16-2015 01:51 PM

Frontier announces 1,300 total outsourced jobs in DEN and MKE.

The Man was quoted as saying he's working with their contract companies to offer preferential interviews to the outsourced employees. How kind...

Who are you? Are you special?

Who is Frontier? Don't they run a couple of BE-1900s out of Alaska?

Jesus we work for Frontier. We have been in survival mode since Day 1, and your talking ****?

This is possibly the most ridiculous thread in message board history.

What Zooropa said.

We got a lot of work to do I'm still not at the point where I'm proud of where we are at. Hopefully one year that day will come.

Please ignore what the OP said, he is a very small minority or a troll.

I am proud to work at Frontier Airlines and am excited about our future. I have not met even one single person in our pilot or flight attendant group that I would not have as a guest in my home; I look forward to going to work. We must circle the wagons and stay unified.

Sam,

Sorry to hear about the turn down. But what's the context of your msg? They owed you a job? Lil' ole lowly Frontier dared to turn you down TWICE!? If that's your attitude, the result should be obvious. If that's not what you meant, my apologies- there are better threads than this to discuss what can be a frustrating process. For Frontier in particular, it might simply be a matter of location right now- I think they're looking harder at folks living out East from what I hear.

As far as this thread goes, hopefully MD has sobered up. We've got a good group of guys over here, about the same mix as anywhere I've ever worked. I can't stand 'my airline is better than your airline' threads. This job is a crap shoot, and everyone knows it. My reason for participating on this forum is to learn and contribute. Unless the mods want to set up sticky rant threads for all companies, please, let this ridiculous discussion die on the vine.

I'm just thankful it worked out that way. Otherwise I'd be at the table with you sharing all the sH!t sandwiches you have been served in the last 14 years.

I wish you all the best.
