That’s the question of the hour. He’s been threatening to go to Endeavor for months, yet he’s still at gojet being miserable.

Default Upgrade/Left seat from FO within the company.

I asked this below but it was never addressed... Can you talk about the Captains sitting right seat if they become a Captain from a starting FO position? I was under the impression that Direct entry captains who are "new" on property have a more likely chance of sitting right seat than someone who starts as an FO with GoJet and upgrades thereby retaining the seniority?

Thanks

If you were hired as an FO and you upgrade and you aren't senior enough to hold a line in base, then you will sit right seat as an FO while on reserve, if need be. Just as a DEC would . Any CA at Gojet DEC or not, if you can't hold a line right now , you will fly as an FO while on reserve .

but the DEC seniority date is the date of hire I assume, the FO who upgrades to Captain will have a seniority date of when he was hired as an FO, correct?

Not exactly sure what youre asking, but let’s see if I’m close. Say there is a trip that needs both a fo and capt. if the base has 10 captains and 1fo on reserve, then the fo reserve and the most junior captain reserve get called. If there are no FOs on reserve and both seats need to be fillled, the most senior captain of the two called will get the left seat.

If you come in as a FO, then say upgrade after a year, you’ll have your 1yr of longevity. So even if you’re a brand new captain, if you’re more senior than the street captain hired 6 months ago, you’ll get the left seat in the example I gave.
Am I close?

Yes, you are correct . If you are FO who upgrades to CA and you are more senior to a street CA , then you are more senior , but like I said if you aren't senior enough to hold a line you are still eligible to fly as an FO while on reserve . I think your question was as an FO who upgrades , are you less likely to fly in the right seat as a CA than a DEC would ... It just depends on your overall seniority in base . I got hired as a street CA 2 years ago . I'm on reserve next month in my base and so are two CA's that are senior to me, who just finsihed upgrade . As an FO you have control of when you upgrade and wether you will be able to hold a line as a CA or not .

Thanks for the replies above everyone. Seniority is the deciding factor.

Seniority is Date of hire. No matter what seat you sit in. I was and FO who upgraded, and i have flown with FOs who are senior to me, and when they upgrade they will push me down.

Seniority is Seat dependent but you maintain it as you upgrade. If a DEC is hired before you, they are going to be senior no matter what.

Reading this as an outsider is laughable. You get hired as a Captain
"wink, wink". But fly as an FO unless they are so short of captains
that they need you. Do they also make you act as FA's or groomer if needed?
So you screw traditional FO's that want to upgrade but cant now because a street CA took their CA. spot.
