Airline choice and commute considerations
Having offers from 3 airlines, GoJet, PSA, and Endeavor, I am faced with a decision that is hard to make not knowing the industry well.
I could drive just over two hours to a PSA base in Charlotte, or I could drive an hour and a half to the GoJet Raleigh domicile, or drive that hour and a half to commute from Raleigh to what I assume will be a LGA or JFK, possibly ATL domicile for Endeavor. I could also commute from GSO which is an hour drive to commute for Endeavor. Thoughts? I plan to post this in each airlines respective forum to hopefully get feedback from those pilots. |
You will almost never see Charlotte before you are forced to upgrade at PSA. It takes over a year to hold a line in Charlotte and you’ll be forced to upgrade at about 18 months. That forced upgrade will put you in a random outstation base doing 5am hot reserve in Norfolk, Dayton, or somewhere expensive like DCA.
When you upgrade at psa it will be over 3years to try and hold a line in Charlotte. Also the lines in Charlotte are shrinking due to expansion in other bases. I would consider endeavor or gojets before coming to psa. |

Think more like 4+ to hold a line as a CA. And that doesn’t factor in shrinking the 50-seat flying and subsequent lines in CLT yet. Or another base potentially.

ZW is opening CAE. Most junior base in both seats. What is your drive time there?

Sounds like he is somewhere in the middle of North Carolina so I think Columbia would be much further. Hate to say it but I guess gojet in RDU is the best option for no commute. Another thread says attainable within six months.

RDU is senior at GoJet, it would be at least 6-12 months for Raleigh.
