Default Dec base

Which is the best base for a commuting new-hire DEC? How long is reserve running now?
Do the pilots have PBS?
Thanks

Curious how many days off folks are averaging before accepting any overtime, extra trips, etc.

Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves.

The junior bases for DEC CA’s appear to be STL and DTW. STL probably has the toughest commute because most of the trips start early and end late, making it difficult to come commute in and out the same day as the trip.
Look at flight options where you will be commuting from to see which base is the best.
When I started I was told 2 years for Reserve as a DEC. However I’ve been here 6 months and I am approximately 2 lines away from holding a line provided they don’t reduce lines in STL. Looking at the bids, it will probably be closer to the 2 year mark at the other bases.
Yes we have PBS

So plan on 1-2 yrs reserve as DEC in Dtw? Does GoJet have short and long call?
Some guys are flying a lot some are not? Is there still a lot of right seat flying?
What can a DEC expect to earn 1st and 2nd year?

Thanks for responses!

I was wondering the same thing with the right seat flying as a Captain.
Is there a thread that shows the junior DOH and line holder for each base for FO's and Captains?

First year has bonuses plus $69/hr. Second year capt goes to $71/hr with no bonuses? That’s a pay cut.

A buddy of mine who flies for GJ says that there are guys that fly right seat, but not much, and the ones that do are typically DEC's because they don't have the seniority to hold the left seat. So I don't THINK you'd be on reserve as much as flying in the right seat and building seniority. Some of your trips/lehgs will probably put you in the left seat so you can earn PIC as well, but not as much right away.

Another friend of mine went to Envoy as a DEC and he is going to be on reserve quite a while, but he doesn't fly in the right seat. Pick your poison I guess.

Why Gojet? They are losing their United flying. I don't think they will go out of business but I think their United flying will be moving to American somewhere down south, DFW or Miami, maybe St Louis.

Skywest will give you credit for time at your past airline and FO pay at Skywest is almost the same as captain pay at Gojet when you take into account the bonus, overtime and work rules.

My understanding is Gojet's sounds like the same but is not. If you have 3 years at another airline, at skywest you start on 4th year pay, then go to 5, 6 etc. At Gojet you start at 4th also, but then you stay at 4th until your 5th year at Gojet.

Skywest has something like 16 bases and is adding more. They treat their people right. Don't forget Republic and Endeavor.

The reserve lines are awarded as LCR However the company can and most likely will convert 2 blocks into SCR which is a 2hr callout.
Flying and not flying on reserve is dependent on the season. As far as I know. Most DEC are flying a lot. I have heard of a few FOs not flying a lot. You can also bounce back and forth between left and right seat. For the month of NOV I think I about 70% leftseat. Where in Oct it was more 50/50.
