If you choose to take first upgrade you will probably be better off going somewhere else. I would guess at this current pace he could upgrade in a year but 2 years on property does not get you a CA line in any base. If upgrade is the most important factor then maybe go somewhere else, if DEN is the most important factor SKW would probably be a good choice.

I don't think you can blame GoJet Management for people going to Gojet so they can be based in Denver. Gojet's Denver flying is for United. Gojet has 25 planes for United and all 25 are being converted and going to fly from ORD and EWR. Yet, for some reason, people are coming on this forum and saying they are going to go to GoJet because they want to be based in Denver.
Can we really protect people from their own stupidity?
The recruiter gets 10k if they get someone to sign on, of course they are going to plead ignorance about what will happen to Denver. "Yes, we are fortunate and have a Denver base where we fly to 38 different cities. Well, yes, we are getting the 550 that will fly for United out of ORD and EWR but that does not mean that Denver will close. Gojet says they are very happy with the Denver base and have not announced any plans to close the Denver base. I would not be suprised to see Denver grow."

Just curious why you think recruiters get a 10k bonus.

I include individual pilots out soliciting other pilots. Paying people to recruit makes them recruiters in my mind. From the Gojet website:
"$10,000 PER PILOT REFERRAL BONUS
We know that great pilots know other great pilots. That's why we pay GoJet pilots a $10,000 bonus for each successful pilot candidate they refer to the company. And there's no cap on referrals, which means that pilots have the opportunity to earn a lot of extra cash."

Please Clarify:

Reading your post (quoted above) you state that "2 years on property does not get you a CA line in any base". Your statement was in response to another post in which SkyWest was mentioned. Can you please clarify if your "2 years on property does not get you a CA line in any base" statement was referring to SkyWest or G7?
I'm a captain on perpetual reserve at another carrier and I'm wondering if it would be worth jumping over to G7 to get more flight time. Perhaps you or some other G7 pilots can comment on that?
Thanks!

I've read just about everything posted about G7 in the last couple years, and a lot about the past negativity for this co.
I would like to hear only from CURRENT pilots, or ones who just moved on:
What do you like?
What don't you like?
If you were starting today, would you still come here?
Rough size (comparatively) of the different bases? I'm interested in DEN...how long to get there?
Good/bad/ugly about the DEC or "near-DEC" program. I have over 5000 hrs. of 121, but from 10 yrs. ago.
(Well aware that you will be on reserve a long time....I'm planning to move to base.)
Thanks

Past negativity - I know all about the past negativity but beyond reading about it on these forums over the years I never really heard anything about it out on the line or commuting or anywhere else for the matter, and it certainly didn't keep me from getting hired at a mainline carrier.
What I liked - GoJet was still growing some when I arrived here so it allowed me the chance to move up on seniority pretty quickly, that equated to a better QOL and a faster upgrade. That may be the case now with the 550's. The crews were also some of the best I have experienced in my career, love it or hate it G7 has always seemed to hire good people and I rarely had any issues in the cockpit. Another thing that comes with growth is opportunities to get into the training department, be a check airman, or volunteer with a union committee, those add nice resume glitter. Most of the guys and gals I worked with who were about my seniority are at you name it Mainline and box carrier so it's definitely a place you can build your career. Overall the vast majority to people I shared the cockpit with as an FO or a Capt were as professional as any mainline pilots.
What I didn't like - Probably the same things that most people at regionals don't like about their specific regional. I didn't like last second scheduling changes and reactive planning that would sometimes get thrown on you. I wasn't a fan finding an overdue MEL at an outstation at O'dark thirty in the morning (happened a few times). There was a time when g7 changed their dispatching system over and it was a comical nightmare. However, in pointing out those specific situations, as far as I can tell from friends that have flown at other regionals our complaints are basically the same for the most part. If you're going to be on reserve for awhile, moving to base is a good idea and you'll like the job a lot more.
Would I do it again? Sure I would, there are a lot of good things that came out of GoJet. But at the same time I could have gone with a different one and ended up in the same place. Bottom line you don't really know, this forum isn't the best place at getting specifics, just do your research and come up with a plan that works for you.
The last thing I'd like to address is this thing about G7 not working with military duty. I don't know the specifics with where that is coming from but as a guy who had weekend UTA's and lengthy orders while I was employed at G7 over the years, I NEVER had an issue with anybody about it. The typical response I'd get from the company when I emailed my orders in was "thank you for your service". That's just my 2 cents. DM me if you have any other questions.

Looking at G7
Looking at G7 after being away from 121 flying for 20 years. I still instruct and have occasional corporate flights in a C340. I’ll be retiring from law enforcement and thought G7 would be good with CRJ550’s supposedly coming online.
