The 550 delay will be 2 to 3 months longer than planned but that is not of major concern to United. What is of major concern is the inability of Gojet to increase their pilot ranks. The announcement was in Feb and GJ had promised it could expand by 50 pilot a month with the new planes. that is why GJ was going to get 50, lose the Delta Contract over 12 months, and would be able to expand more. Didn't happen.
United saw Skywest add 70 pilots last month and is now asking Skywest to take the second set of 25 550s. SW is considering it but wants 25 175s too. It will be interesting.

SAPA Gone Report as of 7/1/19
June 1 2019 size: 5001
July 1 2019 size: 5070
Net change: +69
CA gone: 37
FO gone: 33
Total: 70
The numbers get weird because the day after this is published a fair amount of people end up leaving. It also assumes everyone shows up to class. What the real net gain/loss is I don't really know.

Yeah I'd like to see the source on this. Like what was said above, we may have hired 70 but we lost 60. Not only that, but we barely have 8-10% reserve staffing in most domiciles as it is. I couldn't imagine adding 25 CRJ's and ERJ's.

The seniority list at SkyWest is continuously updated. Every time they add a new hire class, the numbers jump up, and then the numbers go down every day as people leave until the next class. Just the other day, the list hit 5100 for the first time ever. The fact is that classes at SkyWest are full through December for the CRJ and January for the ERJ, with a stack full of apps. Staffing has increased but block hours are also at a record high. And to think 4 years ago the seniority list had ~3800 pilots.

Yeah I'd like to see the source on this. Like what was said above, we may have hired 70 We didn't hire 70, the net change was +69. but we lost 60 No we lost 70, so we hired at least 139.. Not only that, but we barely have 8-10% reserve staffing in most domiciles as it is. No, the last RSR said we have 17% system wide reserves in our busiest months.I couldn't imagine adding 25 CRJ's and ERJ's. These numbers allows for a status quo addition of 50 aircraft in as short as 7 months.

The numbers get weird because the day after this is published a fair amount of people end up leaving. The 2nd of the month is not a big exodus day for any reason. It also assumes everyone shows up to class. People are not counted unless they are in class...on the seniority list What the real net gain/loss is I don't really know.
