Thank you for the reply! There is no data for the 550's on the airline fleet sites yet. What do you think is the average age of the frames they are using to make the 550's? Thanks again.

Many are circa 2002-2003. Some are as new as 2009, others as old as 1999.

We received many of the 2003s at 9E. They are tired airframes.

Wow! That's really too bad. I thought, at first, that this was a new aircraft. But, finding out that they are THAT old is tough to hear. I've spent quite a bit of time at outstations filling in pages of logs with deferrals for old aircraft. I really didn't want to go through that again. I appreciate your link and your post.

I had heard that there were quite a few of these former 700's that sat in the desert for a while. Do you what the percentage of these 550's that might have gone that route? Thanks again!

Very cool! Thanks again! What have been the issues with the 550's? Have they been major, like engine, gear, hydraulic, etc.? Or have they been more nuisance kinds of items like lights, seats, lavs, etc.?

Thank you for any answers!

It really varies by tail, the original GJ tails are relatively new and don’t have ‘many’ issues, the QX and other sourced tails that have been in the desert have had opportunity for a few more gremlins to set in. You will experience issues, but I don’t think it’s any more prevalent than any other fleet of a similar age.

Aren’t some of the 550s that GoJet operates owned by SkyWest? I remember seeing some of them in TUS.

Also, Republic would be my pick over GoJet. Better outfit IMO.

They have been nuisance issues from my experience. I had one 550 that we had to swap out of because a stab trim channel would not engage. Other then that, the problem has been able to be fixed with a reset, or deferred. The kinks seem to be working themselves out though. I haven't had anywhere near the issues I had in the beginning. Most planes still have an MEL or two, or three on them though.

What base should a DEC expect out of training? How long before holding somewhere else?

It's a CRJ-700 rebranded and retyped with 50 seats. They are all used planes. Any issues the 700 had will be the same on the 550.

EFIS COMP MON
Flap/Slat Issues
Wing A/I issues

All pretty standard stuff.
