Default GoJet Direct Entry Cap vs Republic

Quick question. Gojet just announced direct entry cap additional 30K CL65 type bonus on top of 45K Direct Entry. I've never worked for gojet.
DE Captain or FO republic then upgrade in 1.5 years? Which airline has better QOL as both are ORD base which I want. Thx

GoJet is almost Mesa. If you can live with the fact you work for GoJet, then they’d love to have you!

So what are the really consequences of Gojet? Will I be denied jumpseats? Do majors not hire Gojet pilots? Does go get really and truthfully abuse the pilots? Like I need the money but I dont wanna get stuck and be a regional lifer either

You will be schedule abused while you're there. As a DEC it will take you several years to get the seniority to have a normal life outside of work. The big bonus money is compensation for not being able to have a personal life. If you have a girlfriend or wife, try to be friends with the guy she's going to leave you for so he doesn't steal your stuff while you're on your fourth overnight in a row in MDT.

When you try to leave Gojet your prospective employer will request records from Gojet and that's where they screw you. They're so bad at sending correct records in a timely manner to other airlines it's borderline illegal. Make sure you keep copies of documents that prove when you started, when you left and every training event.

You'll never see ORD as a Republic captain. Just something to factor in.

I started in September as a DEC. I didn't come from another airline to come here, but I did spend a lot of time at one that I left years ago. I haven't been here long enough to speak to being abused scheduling wise, but so far I have not. You will be "abused" as the others put it, anywhere you go while on reserve and are junior. It's just the way it is. If you have days available and they need you, they will call you. I don't understand why this something that people get upset about. It would be the same at a major. If you come in as a DEC, you will be in reserve for a year or more.

Training was okay. My previous airline was better, but I had no issues with it. I got the info I needed. I will say though, GoJet lacks in the tech department. I miss sked+ dearly. We have had a lot of maintenance issues with the 550s. A lot. I'm sure it's part that some planes were in the desert and part they were ripped apart and put back together by the lowest bidder. But my first trip off of OE was the worst trip for maintenance in my entire 12 year career. 3 days of delay after delay. The Delta planes seemed to be in better shape. Every plane so far has had multiple MELs. I rarely get a clean plane.

It's definitely a cheaply run operation, but everyone has been really nice and helpful. Crews, dispatch, maintenance (although you have to watch their paperwork), etc. Does that mean they don't or won't pull shady stuff, no. My last regional did too. It's just another regional so comparing one vs the other operationally is almost a moot point. Contracts, growth, stability, upgrade, etc is a different story, but at this point in time, they most are all the same. Offering comparable pay rates, big bonuses, and fast movement. It's just what will work better for you base wise. It's 121 jet experience. It goes in your logbook the same wether it's GoJet or somewhere else. While some regionals are better then others in some ways, in the end, it's what will get you to the majors the fastest.

PM me for more if you'd like

My question: Are the 550's former 700's that have been refurbished and reconfigured? It sounds like they are not new aircraft. Thank you for your help with this!

that is mostly correct. the 550s had the cabin gutted and refurbished, the cockpit is very much the same
