Default Hello everyone.

G'day guys,

I only just joined and wanted to say quick hello to everyone. This platform appears is great for advice from what I have browsed around.

I am an Australian pilot flying turboprops here in Australia and I am looking at GoJet. The signon bonus is handsome and that, along with Jet hours is the driving factor for me to join GoJet.

Just wanted to get your opinion on how secure the company appears to be currently in terms of stability? I understand the holding is the same the TSA and compass which recently went bust, and this makes me wonder if the high bonus is more of a carrot on a sinking ship?

Also I hear the bonuses are heavily taxed at 40%. is this true? That would change things drastically for me. Does the company stay true to its word etc.

Thanks and regards

All US regionals are somewhat in a state of flux right now. Air Wisconsin just announced a larger bonus too. A lot depends on what your future plans are and how many hours you have of flying. The sure things eventually are the two biggest regionals, Skywest and Republic. Same for the American Airlines wholly owned. Short term there is more money and quicker upgrades at most of the other regionals - not without risk however. On the other hand, if they fold you can take your bonus money and go to the next one - for another bonus if you want.

Sort of depends on your goals and risk tolerance.

Pay your penny and take your pick.

Thanks very much. Well the idea I was flirting with was to live the American life for 2-3 years and get jet hours and then head back to Australia. The only issue is that the monthly wages are very very low in the US and with the bonus is the only saving grace. However I hear they take away nearly half of it anyways!! That is what I am trying to find out. What I also hear is that if I am not a US citizen then I get taxed less, not sure if this is true.

I would not recommend Gojet to a pilot, even if they doubled the bonus yet again.

Yes, Trans States Holdings is owned by Hulas. TSH owns TSA, Compass, and Gojet. My experience with Gojet has been very bad, as it was for many others. I'm told there were pilots at TSA who were just starting IOE when TSA stopped their classes. The pilots starting IOE were failed and fired rather than train them and allow them to have contract rights. Can someone confirm this?

That sounds exactly like TSH to me.

There are good jet airlines out there that you can go to and GoJet is not one of them. The bonus is not a reason to risk your career. Don't put your life in the hands of Hulas Kanodia.

That’s not true at all. There are still people finishing training and going through IOE at TSA.

This is not correct, people already in class, pending IOE or even already on the line are being offered to start class at GoJet with no interview, I know 2 FOs from TSA that are starting class at GoJet by the end of March.

You can expect your bonus to be taxed about 30% from the get go, so U.S will retain that much from your bonus and you might get some of if back when you file for taxes for the year depending on your tax bracket. So if your initial bonus is for example $10,000, expect to receive only $7,000 with your pay check.
