it blew my mind when I was at my old regional. Yes I had pride but I understood the “game”.
While it is true that Skywest, or any regional for that matter, doesn’t own the flying. Skywest does own most of their airplanes. That gives their partners a better financing advantage by keeping that debt off their books. In return longer ASA’s are negotiated. It provides more stability because it’s harder for them to wiggle out of the contract

If you want to get technical… Skywest does directly bid for, and own many EAS routes in which all pilots, flight attendants, ramp agents, ticketing agents, etc are all skywest employees.

I'm just asking why you say so, what's on the table?

You are the typical bottom feeder at the major level. Still the new guy who wants so bad to be accepted and wanted by his peers. But, when it is figured out they don't give a crap about you or your opinion, they hang out in the regional boards with drivel posts like this. You guys stick out like a sore thumb, and it is frankly really pathetic. You need to put your efforts into kissing ass, and doing coffee and food runs for your PIC. Oh, and also stepping up your game to impress people outside of your circle that you are a pilot at a major carrier.

You know you guys are made fun of by your peers don't you? If you haven't figured that out yet, you will eventually.

You guys realize y’all are arguing over whose turds are the least stinkiest right? High school was years ago, get over it.

Both carriers have the luxury of being concentrated in one specific geographical area. Our United operation stretches coast to coast, with operations in more hubs than any other express carriers. You obviously have zero clue on what SFO alone does to performance metrics. You obviously have zero clue what DEN does to performance metrics every single afternoon in the summer. You obviously have zero clue about non published ground holds inbound to LAX. We have aircraft that can touch ORD / DEN / SFO in a single day.

Maybe you need to ask yourself a question...why exactly does SkyWest get all of this flying and is the largest and most depended on Express carrier of them all? Could it be because we can handle it? You will also notice that SkyWest and UA's numbers seem to hover around the same area more often than not. Why do you suppose that is?
if this is the case you even narrow this down by base, you will be shocked to learn they lag on individual base metrics most days. If anything they should be better by being larger. If one hub is crap for 3 days straight that’s 50% of zw or G7, it’s like 20% of Skywest. Yet on days when only one hub is crap Skywest does worst. Their controllable delays are worst too, that’s maintenance and crew scheduling, not weather, or ATC.

There is no such thing as a crap one hub day for SkyWest. That is what you are not able to grasp, as you live in a seriously isolated world with no understanding of what really goes on out there.

I'm not Skywest. I've been with 2 major airlines and selling your own ticket doesn't mean much. I'd rather be at the company that is making money whether it be their tickets or someone else's.

Skywest almost bought United a few years ago but it concluded United was too risky an investment. Skywest is no turd.
