Default CQFO

The language regarding CQFO in G7’s CBA is there for one reason. It gives the company more flexibility. So be warned, if you get hired as a street captain, do not be surprised if you get scheduled to fly in the right seat. If your intent is to get your PIC time and get out, think again.

But that is literally not what a cqfo is. A cqfo is a pilot who cannot hold a captain position but is qualified as a captain. A cqfo gets paid as a captain ONLY when they are in the right seat. A direct entry captain is paid as a captain full time regardless of the seat they sit in. CQFO is a hiring tactic to get people to sit reserve and use them in either seat and save money doing it.

G7 had never used CQFOs

As a direct entry captain will you sit in the right seat?

Yes.

With you ever get paid as an FO?

NO.

True (partially). G7 has done CQFO in the past. It is still in the contract as an option. Currently tho CAs get paid as CAs regardless of seat assignment on any trip. Even if you are a CA on reserve and every assignment is right seat for the whole month (never happens) you would still get paid the CA rate the whole month. There is currently no "blended" rate.
