CQFO
So our contract's definition of a Captain Qualified First Officer is "a First Officer who is qualified to fly as Captain." In section 5 paragraph O(2), outlines how those pilots are to be paid. To paraphrase, when you fly as a captain, you get paid as such. When you fly as a FO you are paid a blended rate.
So here is my question, are the ZHG and or downgraded Captains who are still required to maintain their Captain status through recurrent, which they are per the ZHG LOA, not considered a CQFO? If not, why? And if so, they owe us some money.
Edit: the LOA also states that when downgraded captains go to recurrent they are paid at the captain rate. Which is in line with Section 5 paragraph O(5). Seems that they are conveniently ignoring the other part of the contract when they fly as an FO.
Thoughts?

Here is a simple thought:
You (the pilots) are Andy Dufresne, Hulas is Bogs, the rest of management is the other sisters.
Fight all you want, but as long as your in Shawshank er, I mean gojet, you are just gonna have to “take it”.
Best of luck!

pretty sure i have seen this guy B!tch on the g7 fb pages. he clearly doesnt understand that CQFO is a hiring tactic. it allows management to hire pilots as FOs but fly them as captains when they choose to. the CQFO is not a way to allow senior FOs to work as captains in open time. The idea is that super junior FOs are captain qualified and can be upgraded when their seniority holds it. But as junior FOs they will be on reserve and be able to be used in either seat and paid for the seat they occupy

I do understand the CQFO program very well. I was a TSA captain. And FWIW you are correct in your summary of CQFO.
My point still stands about uncle Hulas. He would sell his own mother into the sex trade if it made him a buck. The guy is corrupt, and there are many good reasons that 2 holdings airlines are defunct.
I wish everyone at gojet the best. Times are tough in the industry and having an owner and upper management as scumbags isn’t a great situation to be in. So again, expect to get screwed on every objection you have and know that on day you will get out of there and into a good place. Just like Andy dufresne.

Not sure which “guy” you are referring to. The OP or myself.

Second, instead of being a condescending prick, why don't you offer a an explanation without being a dick. This is why I asked the question in the first place.
Third, I don't care what a CQFO is supposed to be or what it is used for. I understand this is a unique situation here, but you haven't offered a reasonable answer to my original question as to how an FO who is qualified as a captain, does not meet the definition of a CQFO according to the contract. I do however agree with it being a recruiting tool since I'm not a dumbass. 12 plus years in this industry has taught me a thing or two wise guy.

Too Low Gear makes a good point and the first thing people try and do is to is to look for a way to attack him.
The CQFO part of the contract/letter of agreement was written from a viewpoint of the airline growing, getting bigger. They did not write anything into the contract for what would happen when the airline shrank. But here we are. Our great Teamsters union should enforce the contract as it is written. But they won't, as shown by the fact that they aren't.
The teamsters need to enforce the contract. The contract needs to force the company to pay the bonuses that they used to get guys to come to Gojet.
No need to investigate me, I hate the way Hulas treats people, and I freely express that. I don't like how he fires people when they get sick and might cost the company money on their self insured insurance program or when they are injured on the job. I don't like how he will promise people things until he gets what he wants and then doesn't pay, as here.

The other intention of a CQFO is not to allow senior FOS pick up captain trips but to allow the company hire junior people and work them as captains. When you upgrade you are giving up the QOL your seniority afforded you for more money. Until your seniority can hold a better QOL(days off etc). Many fos don't want the idea of possibly not getting weekends and holidays off after upgrading and wait until their seniority can hold that level of QOL.
I personally held off an upgrade until after the holidays. Being a senior FO and being able to fly captain trips diminishes the reserve captains flying in the right seat. That will give the company the idea that captains on the right seat should be paid at FO rates.
