Every regional is desperate right now. GoJet is less desperate than some regionals, and more desperate than others. You're seriously asking if they'll shutdown? I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Any airline, regional or mainline, can "shutdown" at any time in this crazy industry.

I'm getting the impression that GoJet is hiring a large amount of street captains to bolster their FO numbers. Looking at the bid awards for May there are 9 total FO reserves for all 4 bases and 15+ captain reserves in each base. That doesn't sound like a company that needs to be hiringstreet captains
I think GoJet is using he street captain as a recruitment tool, rather than increasing the recruiting bonus or offering a retention package for FOs. Also a reserve captain only cost the company $68 hr while a critical FO trip cost the company $78 hr.

Just be forewarned that if you accept a street hire position at GoJet there is a very big probability that you will be flying a large amount in the right seat.

The other regionals will probably be around for a long time. What are Gojet's plans? United gave them the Aspen flying but no training program so they can't do it? Anyone want to state the latest?

Yea that's a standard TSH practice. They can't get anyone to show up so they offer street CA to sit right seat.

United gave GoJet the Aspen flying with the intent of taking it away from SkyWest (they got too expensive). While GoJet was in the process of developing the Aspen training program, SkyWest lowered their price, so United had them keep the flying instead of giving it to GoJet. Simply put, United used GoJet as a bargaining chip to get SkyWest to keep their prices down.

I believe United wanted to give something to Gojet so it could keep them flying. They want to get rid of all the crj700 and that is all gojet has, so it was kind of a life line. Gojet tried to develop or buy a training program but they were unable. Maybe Skywest lowered their bid price to get it back but isn't the deal still Gojet's if they ever get it together?

If United wants to get rid of all the 700's they won't be doing Aspen anymore.

United didn't give blowjet anything, they said "hey, go try to get an aspen certification so we can have you fly there." Obviously much more difficult than they thought, or more work than they wanted to put in, the FAA laughed at them and sent them packing. i.e. skywest keeps the aspen flying because they're the only ones that can fly there except envoy
