Default I really want to get my pilot license!

Hey guys! I really want to become an airline pilot as a career. I am a senior in high school right now and want to get my private pilot license but because I'm in high school I don't have the funds for the lessons and training. I have created a go fund me page and would appreciate any little donation you could make to help make my dream come true. I believe I have the dedication and work ethic to do it but I need help. The link to the go fund me page is http://www.gofundme.com/xfm26a-flight-school
Thanks guys! Blue skies!!

There are scholarships available through AOPA that you can apply for, deadlines are May 19 and May 31!

What makes you deserving of free money while many pilots save for years, or borrow tens of thousands for their training? I will never fund a Go Fund Me type of campaign anyways, as I may just be funding your substance addiction. Also, what do you think you will be able to accomplish with $1000? Most private pilot programs are going to be at least 4x that much between ground school and aircraft rental. It's time to realize that if you want something, you will need to either risk your own money or put your credit at risk to accomplish that.

You're taking the wrong approach Giles.
Many of us have sacrificed and suffered for years trying to accomplish our dreams.
That gives us a dim view of people that want all for free in life.
'Paying your dues' is a worn out cliche but still applies.
Where a will is find a way grasshopper.
Go to your local airport and find jobs to do. Get your face and your name out there.
When I was a CFI we had 3-4 kids over the years that washed airplanes to accumulate flight time.
Many, many of us started as line guys pumping gas.
I personally know somebody who was hired into the right seat of a turbo prop while pumping gas.

Default Begging

Definition:
Begging or panhandling is the practice of imploring others to grant a favor, often a gift of money, with little or no expectation of reciprocation.

I don't give to beggars. The government gets my money to redistribute already. Against my will......

I do however fly EAA Young Eagles. Seven in the last year. Look into the program.

Don't beg. Work!

You'll appreciate your accomplishments a lot more if you get a job, save, and go hang out at airports, get to know pilots, ask to wash their planes, and ask them how they got where they're at. I guarantee you none of them will say it was by a go fund me account.

Why do you want people you don't even know to just hand over money to you? Does that even seem right to you?

Do the right thing and put in some work.

Really? A go fund me? You'll have to forgive me for not donating, I'm still paying dues and paying off my loans...

Listen kid. This industry has an extremely high cost of entry. Do like everyone else and take out loans. Asking for free money without any work put in is sad.

Everyone believes they have the dedication and work ethic. In fact, we all did.

The millennial generation seems to think this is the way to get things done. What you're requesting is the internet version of asking for handouts on the freeway off ramp. "I want to be a pilot; give me the money."

No. Go earn the money, just like the rest of us.

I began flying in High School, too. I worked two jobs, and bicycled over 25 miles each way to the airport to scrub airplanes at night, turn wrenches, pump fuel, etc. I worked several jobs, scrimped, saved, worked off the airplane rental, instructor time, and it took two years to get through the private. We didn't have internet then, but I didn't expect the world to give me the money. I had to go get it. So do you.

You won't find much support here at all among working aviation professionals who all had to make their own way, from someone who wants us to give it to them...no more effort taken than to open a "go fund me" account and to make an internet post.

This business tends to winnow out those who aren't dedicated enough to make it. Whether you put in the effort to achieve your goals speaks loudly to how much you really want it. Asking for a hand-out does not.
