Moving to the Dulles area, looking to rent.
Anyone have any recommendations for renting in the area until we find a house. I think most neighborhoods are pretty safe. Looking at the Fairfax, Oakton, Chantilly, and centerville and west of Dulles airport. I don't wan at to live under anyone and we have a budget of around 1500 a month.
If anyone has advice I would appreciate it.

Sorry to say but $1500.00 a month in the areas you named won't come close for any type of housing.
The sad fact is that the northern Virginia areas you mentioned are all way over priced, over crowded, and comprised of an exceptional amount of rude people working for the Federal government or Federal government contractors. Been in this area for over 13 years now and it keeps getting exponentially worse each year. I am out of here within 2 years and it can't go fast enough!
You will have to look far to the West of that area and/or far to the South of the area to find something in your monthly housing range.
Best of luck.

Yeah a lot of places are around 1700 or more which I'm fine with. Plus utilities.
I was looking for a townhouse or even just a house. I don't want anyone to live above me. Also looking as far west as Aldine and middleberg.
It is super crowded. Any areas you recommend or have heard good things about?

Starting with to the South:
The Fredericksburg and Stafford County areas (still considered part of the commute corridor to D.C. and Northern Virginia) are more reasonable (compared to the areas around Dulles). More home for the buck. Less commute distance than from way out in the Winchester area and you avoid much less winter weather driving conditions to and fro. Something interesting to keep in mind and a fact driven home by real estate companies: (this affects the cost of purchasing a home or renting) for each exit as you go north along the 95 corridor from Fredericksburg, the cost of a house goes up $10,000.00. Very sobering.
To the West: You can check out the Gainesville and Haymarket areas. A little less expensive than the Dulles areas but rapid building going on there and commuters are moving out there and rapidly filling it in. Thus, prices going up.
I guess it just boils down to how much of a drive you are willing to make (if going to Dulles) and the amount of money you can spend on housing. Balancing those to will give you your answers. Simple but not so simple in this area.

Yeah I would most likely be going to national if I get the bid I want.
Thank you very much!
