Default Itemized Deductions (eg. prodiem)

With the current state of the tax system... do we still benefit from these services/methods? I had heard those went away but haven't had time to actually read the tax code (for some reason I doubt the lawmakers had time either).

For the taxes you’re working on now, the 2017 tax year, itemized deductions are still allowed. You’re thinking of the new tax law, which becomes effective for tax year 2018.

Ok, so this will be the last year when we can do the per diem stuff sounds like. Unfortunate for us, and even moreso for the companies that ran it.
