Default Are the bose A20’s worth it?

So I bought the A20’s and have yet to use them. I’m an commercial aviation major and believe this is a good investment if I’m going to be using them for a good 5-10 years.

What are your thoughts on them? Worth it or not for someone doing this as a profession

Also do people in the 121 world use these headsets a lot? If not could you please tell me why.

Thanks, John

They're the best headsets you can buy.

They're bulky compared to some of the more minimalist headsets, but I like bose.

in 121 i rarely see them. They are good no doubt and you will be happy with them for years! For GA they are the best you are going to find. So if you are willing to spend the money now i would say do it. they will last a long time. But in the airlines a lot of guy are using Telex, or Uflymike. Sounds like you already made up your mind.

They're the best, Bose is probably the most common used headset in the 121 world. I'm seeing more of them in the 37 cockpit as well, not many in the Airbus.

121 world is more dependent on airplane type. Some jets are built to talk to each other through voice and not on the hot mic. With super quiet noise canceling, can be hard to hear the other pilot. Other jets, they’re an extremely wise investment.

I decided to spoil myself for Christmas and got a pair. I love them. Even without the ANR on they are better than the Telex 850s I was using.

With the ANR on it was actually a little disconcerting at first because they were SO quiet.

Professionals use good tools.

Sadly, different airlines have different headset cultures. And at some you will be looked at with shock if you pull a set of A20s out of your bag. On the other hand they are common at my current employer, and that is a long haul heavy jet operation. It all depends.

But in all cases you only have one shot at protecting your hearing, so my strongest possible advice is to use the A20s. Also carry a set of earplugs with you at all times for when you do not have the headset on.

Worry about any specific airline when you get there. And hopefully by then the one earphone off the ear practice will have been given the grisly death that it deserves.
