Nomad lifestyle as regional FO?
I'm single and childless, applying to the regionals in about 6 months. In the Army I haven't lived in one spot for more than a year, so I'm accustomed to not being settled and never fully unpacking my belongings. I feel overwhelmed with options as I'm able live wherever the heck i want when I get out.
If I had a domicile in an expensive city like Denver or DC, it would be cheaper to stay in the $50 per night Airbnbs 16 nights a month than to get a studio apartment. My thought is to get a storage unit and PO box at my domicile, and either crash at Airbnbs in domicile or use travel benefits to hang out in different cities between trips.
Does anyone live this way or know someone who has? Was it sustainable? Any major pitfalls to that lifestyle?

Tax free states
Why not rent a room off of craigslist for 300-400 a month in a state without income tax (WA,WY,AK,TX,NV,TN,FL,NH)? Make that your home address and that way you won’t pay any state income tax and you’ll actually have a place to go if Airbnb is not cheap during major events in places like DC or Denver.

I second the idea of finding a tax free place to "call home" if you're planning on living out of an Air BnB. Living in SoCal and being subjected to their taxes has just about killed what could be the ideal place to live.

Dude that's funny as hell. Unfortunately I lack the lady-skills to make this a reliable source of housing. Pulling it off occasionally could still reduce the financial burden. One more thing to consider! haha

If you intend on going full nomad and not live anywhere....South Dakota is worth looking into.
There are two companies to look at that handle your mail and vehicle registration if you have one.
MyDakotaAddress.com, Mail Forwarding, Mail Receiving, South Dakota Residency
Americas-Mailbox Home - mail forwarding - Americas-Mailbox
This is popular with the full time RV crowd. SD has no income tax, a 4% excise tax on vehicle purchases, no vehicle inspections, and no risk of jury duty. To qualify for residency you need to spend one night in a campground, hotel, etc in the preceding year you get your driver's license. You do have to visit the state to get your DL.

We did sleep in the car and shower in the gym a few times. Eventually settled in for the summer with some girls in georgetown.

Keep in mind as a transportation worker which state you are taxed by is different than a regular worker.
