Default Restricted Radio Operators Permit Replacement

Perhaps this is common knowledge, but I had some difficulty finding the answer so I thought I'd share. My flight bag took a tumble the other day and as a result I lost/broke almost all the contents of the bag. The folder holding that stupid piece of paper that says I can pay $60 was among the lost. A replacement license must be paid for but a change of address is free! I found my FRN through the FCC look-up site, reset my password, and changed my address (I had happened to move, but my guess is you could probably change it to some bogus address then change it back if you haven't moved). It took 1 day to process and the following day I received a .pdf of the permit. Again, perhaps common knowledge but considering my permit was originally issued in '13 and even then it seemed like a kick in the junk to pay for something I should've been able to print at home for free, I was pretty pleased that of all the costs associated with obliterating my flight bag, the FCC license wasn't one of them.

Not common knowledge, at least for me. I just used your info to update my address. Thanks for posting!

Is it just a piece of paper now or do they send you an actual license? I received a cardboard license about 20 years ago and I laminated it myself. There is no address on it anywhere though.

You can just change Road to Rd and that counts.

I received mine via email a few weeks ago and I believe it recommended to print and laminate it. Planned on doing it anyways hahaha

Thread Bump......

Once you change your address do they just send you a new PDF in a certain amount of time? I can't find an option to reissue a permit after an address change.
