Default Best Gifts for Pilots

We have a few suggestions. What are yours?

USB Battery Packs
Pilots carry a lot of electronics. At the minimum, pilots carry around a tablet, a phone, and at least one other device (GPS, communicator, etc.)

These devices need power, and pilots can’t just cross their fingers and hope to find a free charging station like civilian travelers do. Commercial pilots also don’t want to worry about charging everything up, the minute they get to a hotel.

That’s why USB battery packs make such great gifts for pilots. While it’s not the most sentimental gift,

When shopping, get a battery pack with multiple outlets, so that several devices can be charged simultaneously. And don’t be stingy on the output – higher mAh = more charge.
I'd never used one until issued one with an Ipad...and I still don't use it, though I'm required to carry it. It's dead weight.

I don't carry a GPS. Or a "communicator." Are those transceivers, or the star trek kind? Maybe a name badge one can tap, and talk to the mother ship (although why one would want to is another matter).

Maybe its a millennial thing.

Hard Shell Luggage
This one is self-explanatory. Pilots need to haul their stuff, every day of work. Luggage for pilots isn’t something they take out of the closet every 6 months.

Because of the frequent use, make sure to go with a hard shell. The constant travel requires a quality piece of luggage that can withstand the wear and tear of daily use.
I can't recall the last time I saw a pilot with hard side luggage. There may be a few. A sturdy frame, yes. Good wheels and bearings, yes. Good zippers. Absolutely. Luggage Works, Purdy Neat, Travel Pro. All good, all sold by the thousands and all heavily used by flight crews.

Christmas presents...the best my wife has bought (bless her soul) is a Glock. Several, actually. But I'm quite happy with a chocolate orange and a bag of almonds. I'm more concerned about what to get everyone else, and just lately I'm thinking this year a better present for everyone would be a card noting that a donation has been made in their name to the folks in Paradise...

Yeah, professional crew use soft-sided luggage.
