I swear I look like a hoarder as I use ziplock bags for everything.
Got me a baggie of this and a baggie of that and a baggie of this and a baggie of that.
Very useful though as it stops all your various bits of stuff from migrating all over you bag.
If you really want to impress the pants off your Captain bring a mini stapler for those out stations that aren’t capable of stapling the paperwork as well as new rubber bands for the intercom switch.
If you bring those two you’ll be recommended for upgrade right out of the gate.
Get this stuff at Walmart and carry it in a ziplock baggie:

Make sure you get Equate as that is the store brand and $2 cheaper then the brand name stuff.
Buy the 60 mega pack for max savings.
I take them two at a time in a big water bottle.

Not gear per se but essential anyway, put your name and contact info on the locked screen picture of your personal phone/iPad and your company phone/Ipad.
You WILL leave either/or/both behind on a company airplane or on a commute or in a Crashpad.
Ask me how I know....

Travel or hiking clothing is a thing. Packs well, can be sink laundered if it gets dirty or the trip is long. Avoid jeans, which are bulky.

Another plug for a pair or 2 of exofficio underwear, especially the tee shirts. They take up much less space than normal tee shirts, and can be quickly sink laundered and ready to go for the next day if the trip runs longer than expected. Or you are an ACMI dog on a 16 day trip.

Also "sheet laundry detergent". Look it up on Amazon. Packs well, won't make a mess by leaking.

Be ruthless in keeping weight down. If you have not used something in the past 3 trips then don't pack it, your medicine kit excepted.

Depending on your environment and employer, bright yellow disposable rain ponchos are about $1.50 each and take up very little space. Do not try this at Delta.
