If anyone needs a good laugh, read up on the new proposal from NY Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Here is a link to an article about it
If you don't like NPR, feel free to google it. Lots of articles. Regardless of what part of the political spectrum you fall into, it is unbelievable to read the details of the proposal and not be amazed by it.
The reason that it belongs on this forum is that one of the goals is to put in so many high speed trains, it makes "air travel unnecessary". And remember, she was voted into office by Americans who believe in her vision.
It only takes 10 years to implement, so everybody might want to start dusting off their resumes.
Discuss. Or don't, I just thought it might make a few people laugh.

Cost estimate now $77B (and climbing).
How in the world are we going to pay for these trains and rail if implemented nationwide?

So she plans on putting 65 million people (world wide) out of work by ending air travel?? She needs to lay off the adderall. It is turning her brain to mush.

I'll type it out since I know many of you would rather read the falsified cliff notes off of a partisan tax policy site than be bothered to read from the actual source, so here it is.
"(H) overhauling transportation systems in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector as much as technologically feasible, including investment in -
(i) zero-emission vehicle infrastructure and manufacturing
(ii) clean, affordable, and accessible public transportation; and
(iii) high-speed rail"

If you actually read the proposal, she does not mention anything about ending air travel. In fact, she doesn't even mention air travel.

Have you thought of insisting that Mexico will pay for it?

Anyone who thinks that high speed rail has any widespread viability in the US has zero concept of our geography (IMO that is also highly lacking in the wall believers, too). Thankfully, it sounds like both parties are laughing this AOC thing off.
