Canada spends 4% of their total Health Care Spending on administrative costs. The US spends 17% of their total Health Care Spending on administrative costs. Switching ONLY to Canada's administrative system would save hundreds of millions of dollars per year.

Our America's Health Care System is TWICE as expensive as the 2nd most expensive system, and our system is ranked about 34th. We are paying Cadillac prices, and getting a Chevy Chevette product.

Correlation does not equal causation, Cliff.

Our life expectancy isn't dropping due to lack of health care access or excessive health care costs, it is dropping because we (collectively) consume too much sugar and carbohydrates while simultaneously not getting NEARLY enough physical activity.

One of the biggest drivers of health care expense in this country, a disease with diagnoses growing at a massive rate, is Type II Diabetes...which is almost entirely preventable via diet and exercise.

If we (collectively) weren't so fat and lazy, less money would be spent on health care and overall health and outcomes would be better.

Alas...

We do too, Cliff.. It's called the VA. Fix that and then talk to me about single-payer system in the US.

I would almost dare say that if the VA is something to judge single-payer, government-run healthcare by, and by how many veterans choose to opt-out i.e. commit suicide, then expanding this to every American would be almost genocidal.

The VA system is broken because we like to say we care about vets, but we really don't. It's expensive to take care of physically and mentally damaged veterans. Plus, healthy vets aren't going to the VA because they more than likely have jobs or make too much to be eligible. Consequently, the system is saturated with broken people and not enough resources to deal with it.

On the other hand, let's look at retiree medical plans. How many military retirees choose their airline healthcare over Tricare? Why aren't you using that as an example? It's a single payer and INCREDIBLY popular as compared to the employer option.

Right, the Buffet and Bezos families are wealthy because health care financing transferred money to them. You don’t have to swallow all of the Left’s Kool-Aid, just a sip will do.

It’s not single payer, it’s heavily subsidized and only acts as a Medigap coverage. BTW, why isn’t Medicare paying for my flu and tetanus vaccinations?

So you're talking about roughly 15% of all the veterans who make it to retirement. Why don't we throw in congressional and presidential healthcare into the mix to illustrate just how fantastic the government healthcare is while we're at it?

The overwhelming majority of veterans separate and do not retire from the military. As such, unless they are CMOH recipients, if they want government healthcare, they don't get any TRICARE plans, they get the VA.

And that's my point. You are intentionally picking the system that is broken precisely because it is underfunded and dealing with vets with the most problems. Why not just give them all access to TriCare?

You’re confusing single-payer vs. single provider. There is a difference between the two, and to completely correlate them is being sincerely disingenuous.
