No way I’d call that guy a tool. Waste of time and energy on his part? For sure. But TOOL? No.

Qualifies as TOTD material. Certainly a much better contender than some of the weak stuff in the past in this thread.

It was a tool move. It’s one thing if he said he flew the airplane and hey guys, quick, reach for this switch and pull it, that’ll stop your pitch trim. But to “suggest” have you run the QRH? is akin to telling a guy is your car in reverse gear if he can’t seem to back up his car. No crap Sherlock.

Tool of the day DAL2304. End of story.

Alright here’s my take, and I am a Delta guy, so I’m obviously biased.

First off, DL 2304 is on the ground from what I can tell...he checks in with tower and says “tower, Delta 2304, ground sent us over...” to me that says that the tower (correctly) figured the guys at the controls of the aircraft had their hands full of an angry jet, and were looking for guys with experience on the E175 if needed. You could hear it in their voices. They couldn’t even talk on the radio.

So this Delta FO? (Most likely) who tells ground, when a call goes out if anyone has experience on the E175, come up on tower 119.3 and he checks in saying ground sent him over cause he’s got experience on the type, he’s a douche or a pompous ass, or just your typical “double breasted van admiral” behavior.

I only heard a guy trying to help, and as presumptuous as it sounds, asking the crew if they ran the QRH, as a last ditch effort, the pilot responding even admitted that they hadn’t run the QRH. They were struggling to stay alive. You Delta haters can hate all you want. The guy I heard was just trying to help and I’m guessing a call went out through the various ground frequencies because the controller could tell the guys had their hands full and any help they could find might make a difference.

If you watch the screen, I couldn’t even tell if it was real time because the RAH4439? Target stayed in the same general area in the southeast corner of the airport area but ended up around 14,000 or 16,000 before they were ever able to get the aircraft to descend.

Major tool of the day or year for that matter is TSA Director David Pekoske. Giving aircrews anal cavity searches, while baggage handlers, refuelers, and caterers, etc.... have unfettered access to the airport and our aircraft.

So you think ATL Ground made a desperate plea on frequency for any pilots that have E175 experience to help? I think that is quite unlikely. The Delta guy probably told ground that he has experience on the 175, and then got sent to tower.

The last plane I flew was the E175, and I just cannot fathom piping in like he did. But whatever, I don’t have any issues with that. But I do have a major issue with the Delta guy asking if they ran the QRH. Gee, thanks Dad! I mean really, what a stupid and condescending comment.

Every airline has their reputation and it could have gone down like you suggest, but because it’s Delta, the expectation is the alternative.

Just like “airline ran off the taxiway for going to fast,” most people say “let me guess, Southwest”

“Passengers through doo doo on each other on a plane”. People say “let me guess, Spirit”

And this scenario screams Delta.

Do you have another explanation for “Tower, Delta 2304, ground sent us over, I have experience on the aircraft”? I don’t know what happened. I’m just trying to look at this a little more objectively than some are.

Dude, stop.
Go listen to the recorded ground freqs and report back.

Maybe you could save us all the time and post a synopsis.
