Default Games on the road

Heard about an FO the other day who takes his Playstation console with him on trips. He will plug it into the hotel TV and go to town on it. Just packs the thing into his bag. Also funny is the Guitar Hero guitar that doesn't fit into the bag so it's on the outside with his flight case.

So this got me thinking. What console could I take? My old nintendo...and my favorite game Duck Hunt. Now imagine TSA's reaction when they saw that coming through security. Oh the joy!!!

I still remember when I took my joystick through security... I wish I could have taken a picture! Imagine 10 TSA screeners huddled around my bag asking "What do you think it is?" "Can we let him take this through?"

It still makes me laugh to this day...

Are you serious? What did they think you'd do, plug it into the seat infront of you and cause trouble somehow?

If I ever see that or any DB tooling through some concourse with a "Guitar Hero" guitar hanging off of his flight case, I might be inclined to beat him with it (out of the view of the general public). I encourage others to do so also. What happened to having some respect and pride in your professional appearance? I don't recall an iPod being part of the uniform either, but I'll save that for another day.

We've got guys that bring travel guitars with them. Are you calling them unprofessional?

Maybe he bought those toys on CFI payrates? Or maybe Santa was good to him at Christmas.

Yeah, that kinda gets me too! Coming up here in about a month I'm going to have to jumpseat back to LA to get the guitars that I didnt want to move out here. I plan on bringing my gig-bag and taking it with me through the terminal...

How about a traditional wired or wireless cell phone hands free kit as as being part of the uniform? How do you feel about those? If you make a distinction, it would be hypocritical. I only ask because I have come across people that have a loud mouth about uniformed pilots with MP3 players yet have no problem with uniformed pilots with a flashing blue light sticking out of their ear. Some function as both MP3 player headphones and hands free kits for a phone. Or others that have a loud mouth about pilots with backpacks but say nothing about pilots with stickers on their flight case. One or the other folks.
