Boyan Slat vs Greta Thunberg. Why?
<rant>
Do we care?
I think we do...
Because what is happening with them is an undeniable hint that some entity, for some reason, is manipulating what we (believe to) know.
In a nutshell:
Boyan Slat has invented and deployed a remarkable tool to clean the oceans.
Greta Thunberg has done...
Well...
Nothing, other than scream bloody murder about a bunch of issues that she clearly doesn't understand and spew out a bunch of propositions that would destroy current civilization without any clear benefit.
She has been nominated for a Nobel Prize.
A Nobel Prize, that has been known to be offered to an unlimited number of Communists, including Pope Francis, who is also a known child-molester defender.
I personally believe that civilization is having a negative effect on climate, and I am firmly convinced that there are interest groups out there twisting facts and profiting from turbulent ignorance.
So, why do I think that a bunch of aviators that I don't know care about this crap?
Because that same ignorance has the potential to undermine the whole industry at best, or invalidate completely the activity that I enjoy the most as a thinking being (the "thinking" part depends on who you ask).
Finally, I am no bashing Greta Thunberg.
I think that her passion is remarkable and her intentions elevating. But I also think that her ignorance has converted her into a pawn for the "entity" that is hell-bent in confusing us.
</rant>
So...
Here it goes.

Nobody takes the Nobel prize seriously. President Obama got one for just not being George Bush, and I’m not bashing Obama either, it’s just that a very junior Senator without much of a record who was newly elected got it before he even had a chance to do anything as a President, good or bad.
OK, rant over. I’m not criticizing the former President, I’m criticizing the Nobel Prize committee. For demeaning the prize itself.
Or maybe I’m just jealous. I’m not George Bush either and they didn’t give me any stinking medal..

What’s really sad is a young girl suffering from autism is being used as a pawn for political games, instead of being protected and offered help which she clearly needs. Where are her parents? I have a daughter, no way would I ever subject her to something like this. And shame on the parents/adults who view her as some environmental hero, instead of a child who needs to be in school and get help for her condition.

I like the
part...
I don't like the idea of having dark interests using her "courage" to advance "their" agenda.
Boyan Slat had the "courage" to create *AND* implement a revolutionary system.
That system will not make a single penny to the "powers that be" (keep'm quiet...).
I am not attacking anyone (nor I want to attack or discourage a young speaker), but when you lay it out cut and dry, Boyan is quietly changing the World, while Greta is screaming nonsense to make someone's else wealthy.
And the planet be damned...
Sigh...

Hey....
whats goin on here?
i had a post altered last week by a moderator for referencing the Mayor of South Bend by name.
it was a violation of posting rules against partisan politics.
Now I’m reading all these politicians’ names here in this thread.

Who takes the rantings of a 16 year old girl seriously?! Shame on her parents and whoever else is behind her.
Sorry, but 16 year olds can barely wipe their butts and they're gonna preach to the world? Ridiculous.

History proves you wrong :
Jeanne D’Arc - died 19
Blaise Pascal - mathematician at 11
William Sidis - went to Harvard at 11
Pablo Picasso - painted at 8
Bobby Fischer - chess Grand Master at 15
Mozart - died at 35, started composing as a child
There are long lists of child prodigies.
British Army you can join at 16
US Military you can join at 17
Legions and legions lied about their age to join the military in the various wars in the last 150 years.
Calvin Graham became the youngest decorated hero during WWII at the age of 12 as a Navy gunner.
Whats your problem with teenagers?
