Default ORD/Chicago Housing Recommendations

Just got our domiciles dropped for Skywest, ORD it is. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations in regards to websites and/or locations for short term rentals near the chicago area. I don't mind a commute, would prefer under the 1 hour mark from ORD. Looking for furnished places and nothing with leases. Plan on bidding for Seattle and staying there as soon as possible. I will have a my own vehicle. Looking to try and spend under 1k if possible for rent. Highly doubt I will find any, but would prefer an ADU/own place versus a room to rent/shared common rooms. Just would like a kitchen/bathroom and perhaps laundry. Thanks for all your help!

Welcome to OO and welcome to ORD,
Now the bad news, it will be hard to get a place on a 6 month lease, usually what i see is people signing up for 12 months and when they get a transfer they try to sublease/transfer the unit for the remainder of the lease. Myself, i am on a 15month lease and that gave me two full months of rent free.
Now the second bad news, 1K$ is loooooow. But it depends what you are looking for. A lot of people, pilots and flight attendants get a place at the Pavilion, https://rent.brookfieldproperties.co...s/the-pavilion, i think a studio there is in the 900$ and its 2 stops on the blue line from O'Hare.

Good luck

Thank you for the the information. Yeah, I'm not necessarily looking for an apartment and having to deal with leases. I'm more towards the renting a room or airbnb and the likes. Find something on a month to month basis. As I know the rents, especially in Chicago will be like $1,500+. And I don't mind a drive, it doesn't have to in downtown Chicago. I've heard mentions of staying in Indiana for example. It seems the Southside of Chicago you want to stay out of, and there's a lot of crime there recently too.

I was a long-time ORD suburb resident. Not sure if this is a consideration but finding a spot that's a little further out from the airport may allow more options in terms of cost and availability. I used the Metra commuter rail to get to ORD from my town. I was a solid 1:00 to 1:15 drive from employee parking unless it was rush-hour. If you pick a town out on the UP-Northwest line, it can be a really convenient option to get to ORD especially during winter storms, traffic, road construction, etc. If I took the train, I could be in any ORD terminal 1:15 after the train left my town. I was out almost to the end of the line in Crystal Lake. That took a little less than an hour on the train, get off at Jefferson Park (3 stops before downtown) which allows you to then board the CTA Blue line that everyone gets on two stops closer to ORD if they have a place at the Pavilion. 10-15 minutes on the blue line and you're at the airport. If you pick a town closer in, obviously that would cut the commute time down.

Maybe not your cup of tea, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Hello to all. I currently have several units that are move in ready. The building is about a 5 minute drive from MDW, walking distance to the CTA Orange line which takes you straight into downtown, or transfer over to the Blue line to go into Ohare. Everything is in close proximity from property. If interested please feel free to email me and to get further info. [email protected]

You could just camp out at ORD like all the "refugees".
