And where is the airplane? I assume they found the CVR and FDR somewhere.... These conspiracy groups are ridiculous.

Sadly, yes. On my former companies message board they would go on and on, round after round, claiming how the whole story is false, it was no 75, it was a missle, yada yada yada.

The angle is wrong, the airspeed/alt data from the FDR doesn't jive with the flight path/angle, ect.

Made me about want to vomit.

A big problem I have with these conspiracy theories, besides being based on speculation rather than evidence, is that they give the government way too much credit. The government can't even keep the transportation of prisoners to secret prisons or the abuses of Abu Ghraib secret. How could they even hope keep an operation to mock the largest terrorist attack in American history secret?

Conspiracy theories are for those who can not accept that bad things can and will happen.

I agree...to an extent. This isn't flame bait but there are things that have been and continue to be developed in the desert that we have no clue about. They can't keep everything secret...but others they can do pretty well....they are just very small operations.

I watched the whole 64 minute show, Diver sums up what I think. I don't know how that data recorder could have been off by 400 feet, but the other facts are so blatantly unaccounted for in their theory you just have to dismiss it as hogwash.

Actually "they" is one person (R.B.)... (assuming it's the same "lounge" that I think you're referring to). I've talked to him on the phone and he's a complete nutjob that thinks the government is all one big conspiracy. He also thinks that we're all dumb and close-minded for "buying into the government story and not doing the research for ourselves"

Well, I hope this doesn't turn into the endless diatribe that it did on our former company's sight.

But a few things about the recorder, and I could be wrong and just talking out of my bunghole here. At the speed that the 75 was going, whose to say that the air entering static ports/pitot tubes and being processed by the FDR is accurate at all speeds? Is it desinged to only provide accurate data in certain envelopes only? Especially at a high indicated airpeed, above MO/MMO, at a low altitude? Maybe a boeing engineer can chime in and say that "yes, the gov't story is false, the FDR accurately reads data at all airspeed/alts/regimes. There is NO WAY that the aircraft was where the gov't says it was". For some reason, I doubt it.

One other thing that was discussed. What was the local altimeter setting in the DCA area? Did the hijackers do a descent/approach check and set the altimeters coming though FL180? Again, I'm not an engineer. Maybe the FDR is able to correct for non-standard settings and give the actaul altitide. Again, doubt it. I never really looked into it, but it just seems like some plausible reasons why the FDR data is off.

But yes, I believe they are over the deep end here. And Josh, although RB is the only one listed on the site, there were plenty gov't basher's that would jump on the bandwagon on the lounge if I remember correctly.

Anyway, these were some of the points raised to counter the 9/11 pilots argument about why the alitiude profile is off compared to the FDR data.
