I can assure that this is correct. Might have better luck with a solid, non-flexible, container. Best if it has a leaded top though.

Maybe wrap the bottom with duct tape to get the perfect fit?

I just tell every new pilot to the plane that it’s a cup rest, not a cup holder. Nice place to set a cup during cruise between sips, but when you expect it to hold your cup is when you’ve made your first mistake.

That’s what I used to do.

Just have to be careful as to how full the cup is in relation to the sip hole and “click” position.

Also, depending on technique, if holding the cup from the top you have to make sure you didn’t accidentally pop/loosen the lid.
