Lear 28 and 29?!?
 

I just found out they these two were real production models!

The 28 is the just like the 31 but with the old GE engines. (How useless! You only have 4000lbs of fuel! You better be looking down the runway after 2 hours and not need to go around. Although...FL510 in 14 minutes! Wow! :eek: )

The 29 was just like the 28 except with more fuel...you get 5500lbs! (A whopping 3 hours!)

Anyway, just thought it was interesting.:D

As I recall, their is one 28 or 29 out there that Neil Armstrong flew. I saw it once in BED, and had a little plaque saying so. Pain in the butt to fuel, but what a sharp looking machine.

That is funny that you mention that one...that is the aircraft that brought this up. Serial number 1 of the 28s...it was bought and will be based at my home airport and put on a 135...not ours thankfully! Haven't seen it yet though!

This LR-28 (sn-001) N128LR is living in Van Nuys, CA. It is not on a 135 cert. nor has the owner any plans of puting it on his 135 cert. It still holds the time to climb record set by Neil Armstrong, and just a few months back was flown with the owner and Gene Ciernan. (the 1st. and last man to step foot on the moon). It is compleyely RVSM compliant, enhanced grnd prox, TCAS..... And from first hand experience, with over 4000+hrs LR-Jet, a great flying airplane.

Oh yea, I forgot, I understand there are 4 other flying 28's out there, 3 in the states and 1 in central america, Im not sure, but I think there is only 1 flying 29.

The numbers are correct. One of the 28s comes to STL from time to time. What a stupid airplane, and a pain to fuel. Rocket ship it may be, but that doesn't mean anything when it doesn't get you far.

I think this one will go down in history as one of those frankenstien planes built with leftover parts like the B-100 king airs.

Ouch, that hurts. I fly a B-100. Its may be loud and ugly- but its does great of fuel burn and holds a lot of gas. Its also a workhorse. We can have execs in there one day and haul tredmills the next. Not to mention crain transmitions. But those garretts sure are noise makers.

The reason line guys hate the B-100 so much is the exhaust blasts ya while you're trying unhook the GPU hookup under the nacelle. Tell the pilot to throw that right engine in BETA and all that bad news will go forward. ;)

I did a google for B-100 and couldn't find anything. Can you post a link on this bird i don't know if i've ever seen one.

I have a few hours in the B100 myself. Still, it's a frankenstien plane. B200 fueslage, C90 wings, and garrett engines.

Funny, I went into the FBO today to pick up my check and sitting on the ramp was none other than a 28. Imagine that!
