Solgaard Carry On Closet Luggage

Has anyone tried these for work? I fly corporate and spend anywhere from 4 to 10 days, sometimes even more, on the road. I'm tempted to try this for a while rather than spending money to repair my Luggage Works bag AGAIN.

Easy. Ditch LW. They suck, and their after sales support is even worse.

Briggs & Riley
Rimowa
Tumi

And don't look back.

Sure, I've spent 16-hundo on a Rimowa. But when I've positioned all the way across the country for a month+ long contract, and the nice UA/DL/AA/ baggage handlers only used gravity to get my bag outta the hold (it literally looked like it was dropped from 25')...and I can walk into the local Rimowa store (20 minutes from the hotel, luckily we stayed in Manhattan) and they tell me to leave my busted-ass bag (mind you, Rimowa's are TOUGH) and grab any any piece off of the floor (no questions asked, as my bag was registered in their system), while I take care of my contract obligations, and the airline baggage paperwork works itself through the system. I returned to the store a few weeks later, paperwork in hand from the airline funding a brand new replacement bag, so I kept the one that I had originally chosen.

Same for B&R, but they don't have any physical stores. I've never paid for a repair, even when it was obviously my fault (another story for another day). You either have to drop it off at the local "approved" repair shop, or have it sent in to the factory for repairs. Either way, you'll be without your back for 1-2 weeks.

I haven't had my Tumi long enough to really test its Road Warrior toughness.

Lifetime guarantee is the only way to go, in my opinion.

Luggage is like footware (amongst other things ;)). Never go cheap.

B&R is good. If it ever did break, I assume I could replace the wheels myself. If the handle broke, I have one or two old suitcases in the attic which I coud use while it was getting fixed. I doubt anything else would break on my (metal) B&R, unless it was in a plane crash.

You get the Rimowa in matte black? How’s it compare internally to LW or other pilot bags? What material is outside shell… rugged? Scratch easy? Sent or indestructible? Bottom line is it worth the $1500? I’m considering it for my 3-4 day trips… but I don’t check bags so is it worth the cost…
