Greenland?
Trump at Davos says the US won't use force. So that's good.
These two political commentators do a reasonable analysis as to what the hell is actually going on with this. I've been scratching my head honestly, and they cover everything I can think of think of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr4aXZYi7MQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9hjsVf6R70&t=454s |
And WSJ has some pretty entertaining commentary. "The Greenland War of 2026" could have been ripped from the pages of The Onion.

We’ve been after our NATO allies to raise their defense posture for a long time - including in the arctic -with little result. Who knew all we really had to do was threaten to invade them ourselves. LOL

Love him or hate him, he doesn’t take any option off the table purely for negotiating tactics. He literally tells reporters the exact same thing, and yet they lose their minds every week over this stuff. |

Did anyone really think we were going to put troops on the ground and have a military battle over Greenland? I mean honestly….

What I don't understand is why they haven't figured out that screaming No doesn't work with Trump, especially if he has more leverage than you do. Either work out a deal or quit NATO and figure out your own defense. I guess the Strum and Drang provides a nice market dip for us to buy at least but the drama is exhausting. Hopefully they have a plan for the midterms. The bottom 50% struggling to keep the lights on doesn't care about geopolitics or containing China. If you don't want them to vote for socialism then you have to demonstrate that trickle down provides more than table scraps and dumpster diving. |

I’m confused. Thought he’d been tweeting incessantly about Greenland but apparently he meant Iceland.

I did wonder if it was an intentional tactic to get to the dissolution of NATO. But even though that's a popular idea in some circles, it's pretty fringe. Political cost at home would be catastrophic IMO. |
Wasn’t meant at you as you seem to have very good common sense and are pretty well versed in this stuff. It was more of a general comment pointed at a certain group of individuals that gets me reprimanded for ridiculing too frequently.
Everything DJT does is based on leverage, gaining an upper hand, and quite a lot of poking the bear because he knows exactly the reaction form 47% of th Country who are against everything he does. Our Country, depending on what the deal is here, just became stronger. Like it or not, we are the top dog in the World and it’s about time we started acting like it and not apologizing for it like we did from 2008-2016. This story will disappear from CNN, and they’ll probably try to pivot back to MN. Disregarding how much fraud is occurring with just about every non profit, social safety net and govt agency up there. |
