Flying aboard the Lockheed Constellation

Years ago pilots actually walked across the ramp up the stairs, used a rag to do walk-around and stick the tanks!

Sometimes we even found Kansas City without the use of FMC, MFD or HUD!

Never locked the cockpit door or took off our belt or shoes for the TSA.

Stewardesses called us Sir and occasionally put out! The Captain signed for the aircraft and only left when he was good and ready!

All this and more here:

Sweet vids, definately before my time, but doesn't mean I can't appreciate it.

Back in the days when you could tell who the "Connie" pilots were. The Capt. leaned to the right and the f/o to the left, due to cramped cockpit. LOL

I am a member of the Airline History Museum here in KC. We are the group that has the restored Connie (which I believe is the only airworthy example at the present time). We also have a Martin 404 (not airworthy) and are restoring a DC-3. I would encourage all to come visit if you are in KC sometime.
