DVR to PC or Mac?

Does anyone know how to do this easily? I've been told the USB on the back of the DVR can transfer files, but how? I've got a newer DirecTV DVR and a PC and Mac.

Any ideas?

I have done it with TiVo. There is a great program out there called direct show dump that will convert the file to an mpg for DVD burning. TiVo can be wireless connected to your home network which makes it easy to transfer. Have you looked that option up for DirectTV?

I've heard of people doing that but how does it connect to the network? I've got a wireless network so does the TiVo have a built-in tansmitter/receiver or does something need to be added?
