While I agree that corn based ethanol is not the answer to energy independence, that article has alot of doom and gloom. We are not going to run out of oil in the next 9 years. There is plenty of shale(sp?) oil in US, when oil prices dropped to $10 a barrel it wasn't cost effective to drill here in the US. But now that oil actually cost more for a barrel it is worth it to drill here.

We cannot become the first nation in history to burn our food supply!

The US has the more oil reserves than the entire middle east put together. It has to be processed in different forms but it's all there. Look up "liquid coal".

I saw an deal on the news a few months back that said chemists have developed a process to turn pig crap into crude oil - chemically identical to the real deal. I would think that would be a gold mine.

Don't get me wrong I am all about alternative energy that works. I would rather make Americans rich that someone in the middle east or wherever!

If I could run my car of pig sh!t I would buy a sh!tload of pigs!
