Approach into Toncontín

I found this video of a x-wind approach into MHTG. This has to be one of the most dangerous airports in the Americas for passenger jets. Amazing too that American Airlines flies 757s in here as well.

On youtube, there is a vid of that approach from the cockpit. Pretty sweet.

Here's another cockpit video from an AAL 757. And the captains retirement trip as well...

Its actually at Tegucigalpa, Honduras MTGU and its pretty interesting to see it in person. Don't remember what the runway length was, haven't been there since a couple years ago. I flew a cessna 310 in there and still thought it was kind of short runway

Its about 6000 feet or so if my memory is good. Flew in there probably a dozen times in the Herc.

Hmmm, this one looks better than Kai Tak. That, and Tocontin is still operational ;)

Man you gotta be on your game for that one. Wonder how many AA guys have been pickin' sticks out of the wheels on the post flight.

Now THAT'S earning your pay. Anyone know how high the airport is and how low the minimums are?

MEMpilot 11-08-2007 06:36 PM

Field Elevation is 3294ft...no ILS however.
