Odd looking 747

This is the test track for Top Gear in England. I was looking at the picture and noticed the 747 engine configuration didn't look quite right. Anyone know if it is a test bed or have any information on it?

Didn't they do a mock up like that for the Casino Royale movie?

Yes that is for the James Bond film. Though I have to give them credit it was a nice looking design. I like the external tanks. Makes me wonder what the range would be if they really did do something like that.

Different photo. Decommisioned aircraft. I think it's supposed to be a "hybrid bomber" in the movie.

I was a little disappointed with Casino Royal. Neat design concept though as far as the 747 goes.

Here's a weird looking 742. It was the testbed for the RR Trent 1000 they're using for the 787...

now 4 of THOSE would be nice.. Kinda like the differnce between an E model and R model KC-135

It looks like it got into a fight and took a punch in the engine.

There have been weird (and good looking) aircraft flying around for years. Here is a Navy E-6 used for communicating with subs.

Looks like we should start a never-ending thread here titled "weird aircraft". But I guess that's what airliners.net is for. Here's an E-4B I spotted a few months ago. It's a distant shot though...

Here's the Soviet (now Russian) version of our U-2. We call it the Uski-2ski.
