Dittidano It's really tough to give a dollar amount, as mileage DOES vary. All the best. |
There is a flight academy that hires all students who complete their program. After completion, the student is hired for 12 months as a CFI and they pay $15 an hour. They claim that the CFI gets a lot of hours. I was just wondering if this was good or bad pay for a new CFI?

I have worked at two different schools, one paid $25/hr and my current one pays $15/hr.
|
Well I get $21 an hour

I get $16 per hour, billable time only.

Just had an idea....Look for CFIpay.com soon :)

No wonder I'm overpaid. I made $20 an hour in 1986:rolleyes:

Started at $8/hour at American Flyers in 1999. My last job I was billing Billing $36 and paid $25. As a freelance MEI I get $55 for multi instruction.

A lot depends on where you are in the country, the type of instruction you do, and the type of school you are teaching at.
I taught at a large private 141 school (non-collegiate) in the DC metro area in 2000. (~18 planes in the schools fleet, ~20 instructors) Instructor rates were as follows: (2000 rates) Private pilot course, BFR, Introductory flights, sightseeing: $16/hr (flight time) Instrument, IPC, Commercial courses: $17/hr CFI, CFII, Multiengine: $18/hr |
