Hawaiian Airlines

Just got back from Maui. I have a question; on Hawaiian Airlines, we had to have all the window shades up on departure and landing, what is the purpose for this? I dont recall if other airlines require this. Do all airlines require this? Thanks for your input?

We at Alaska do it. The purpose is to see outside the aircraft in the event of a possible evacuation. FAs and pax need to asses the environment before opening doors (fire)
