Sporty's DVDs, worth the cash?

I was thinking of buying IFR communications from Sporty's to prepare for my checkride and written test but first decided to come and listen to some of the experiences you all have had with Sporty's. Are their films any good?

Sporty's are the highest quality and I recommend their private and ifr video courses, but you are talking about one of their specialty videos aimed at too narrow a topic area to be worth it in my opinion. I would learn ifr radio by getting a $100 airband scanner and sitting in your Maserati GranTurismo with dual turbos (kidding) near some class bravo airport, and listen to the airplanes come and go. The scanner has multiple purposes which makes it a good way to blow $100.

I second that. I lived near 2 and it was always cool to go watch the traffic and listen on the radio. What else are you gonna do on a Friday night?:D
