I haven't flown the "ram-horns," but I do like the feel of the stick in the DA40's, pretty nice, real sensative trim, but just like anything once it's trimmed you're good. One of the worst yokes I've used is in a C310, it's offset slightly left, so in a left x-wind situation(20+kts), you have to be sure to position yourself so you don't get your leg before you get full-deflection.

In this order:

1. Side stick (Cozy III) - clear view of panel, plus lap clear for approach plates, kneeboard, lunch.

2. Center Stick (DA-40) - clear view of panel, can use knees as autopilot.

3. Yoke (C-172) - have to look around/under it for some panel stuff, but nice place to hang headset on shutdown.

I love the stick when I'm teaching and flying maneuvers. But it can be a real pain on a cross-country, especially in a DA 20 with student and instructor aboard.
