CSI Miami

Watching CSI Miami tonight - set in some fictional airpark in Florida, but obviously shot on location in a real airpark. Anyone know which one it is? Pretty funny - I think any plane in the background over $1M value has something strategically placed to block most of the N number.

Plenty of opportunities for pilots to cringe on this episode. It opens with a crash on Miami Beach, which is evidently very suspicious and calls for our crack CSI troops to solve (after the NTSB spent about 10 minutes on the case) because "this guy had a level 4 rating, he knew what he was doing!".

Totally! The level 4 pilots I know would NEVER blow a soft field landing on Miami Beach unless they were already dead from CO poisoning. :D

Was this the one where the pilots crashed because they were blinded by a laser?

No...but I think I remember that episode - a larger plane, went into the Everglades or something? This one was a Cessna single - maybe a 182 or 206 - the pilot was caught up in some sordid goings on in the airpark, and was killed via a hole drilled in the exhaust and piped into the cabin while he was ferrying chemicals to South American drug lords. Just another day in south Florida.
