Air Canada's Pay-Per-Screw
This is another "nugget" from Seattle Times columnist, Ron Judd. [Sometimes he's funny, but sometimes I hate him.]
New Airline Feature: Pay-Per-Screw: Air Canada has unveiled a new "travel-assistance" program, which, for an additional $25 to $35 per ticket, promises to help travelers find other arrangements in the event of flight delays or other events "beyond the airline's control." That's right: The airline is charging you extra to do what it somehow failed to do, at a very high price, in the first place.
Seriously: It's pure, evil genius. Airlines finally have figured out a way to profit on the one thing they specialize in: gross incompetence.

Actually, I prefer the ones that screw you for free.
Kidding aside, in all my travels, I've only had one flight that was canceled. My traveling partner (no, it's work related) and I were coming back home and the second segment's flight canceled for maintenance issues.
Although they offered, rather than take a chance on routing though God-Knows-Where we stayed the day in Kansas City. Rented a car, drove out to the Truman Library, had lunch, took a nap in the park, went back to the airport early and tossed a few down then boarded the evening flight.
We we not in a hurry to get back to the office.
Also, the airline in question (Midwest) rebooked the rest of the pax on that flight, for free.
