Imagine how much oil we'd save by hiking/biking/jogging to work! Not only would we cripple the Mid-East economy, save the planet, and reduce our oil consumption, but we'd end America's obesity problem. Vote for me for President and I will do away with all oil consuming modes of transportation (except airplanes).

V1, it seems like you made the right decision under the circumstances. But that's not to say the circumstances shouldn't change, which I think they should. There should be reasonably-priced high efficiency cars on the market now which there simply are not. To pay a 10 grand premium for a hybrid insures no one will want one until gas gets outrageous. There have been viable hybrid and high efficiency diesel vehicles around for years with little or no reason to buy one. Government didn't do anything about it either when they set the tax break as low as they did for owning a hybrid, with no break at all for buying a high-efficiency diesel. The high prices of fuel now will gradually open the US car and truck market to more efficient cars and trucks, but so far it isn't worth it for most people.

The Jetta TDI is coming out later this summer. I think its slated to get 45 mpg and be priced in the mid 20s. Clean diesel tech should drive down the price of hybrids as well.

Yes, I have a manual and always buy them. I drive a '99 Corolla with manual transmission. I bought it in '00 when gas was cheap and I'm glad I did.

Not so true anymore. Many automatics have EPA mileages just as good, and in some cases better than, the manuals. And the CV transmissions are even better (though I hate the feel of an engine that runs at basically one speed).

Um someone tell me if I am wrong but,

The 28k you owe on you G is principle... add interst to that and what does it come out to?

pete2800 05-28-2008 05:19 PM

The root of the problem is this. You had that much to spend and you bought a G35?

:D

And here is your solution.... Go buy a really nice E30 M3. They perform great, decent on gas, being 4-cylinder and all, and best of all: They are going up in value. ;)

If I could figure out a way to drag my bag and kit and then clean up at the airport before a trip I would. I did this for five years at the FBO, and prior to that to the bicycle shop I worked at. I probably saved thousands and was in great shape as a result.
