By hedging they fixed their prices (to a degree) for a decade. If airlines take their remaining cash and lock their prices in (rather than give exec bonuses, or pay out to share holders) Airlines could remain healthy and stable. Then we could negotiate contracts with no fear increased wages with kill the company.

I think was very wise and prudent SWA, that got where it is. I still do not know why they taxi 2 engine!
A little bit of all 3 I would imagine and it worked for them in the end and will probably continue to work as long as they follow the model they have set up for hedging.
They taxi on 2 because they can afford to ?

I like how you ducked the issue of wheter April Glaspie ever gave Saddam 'the green light' to invade Kuwait. How about it now?

Instead of acknowledging the facts (which you would be told of on the aforementioned cable channel episode on the gulf war) you challenge me this way? Are you telling me the facts are that stockpiles were found in Iraq by the UN inspectors and/or coalition soldiers? Or that UN inspectors or coalition soldiers found evidence of an active WMD industry?

Another fact: The US sold Iraq a substantial amount of WMD.

I acknowledge the slight possibility that Iraq has (had) WMD which was smuggled to another country. Maybe we should invade and occupy Syria as a pre-emptive measure to prevent them from giving Iraq's supposed WMD to terrorists. How much oil does Syria have, BTW?

I had to change what I said originally. You know, this guy was right on the money. Oil is below $40/barrel and the mortgage crisis is one of the factors that has lead to the worst economic crisis in our nation's history.
