iPhone and AT&T questions
I'm looking into the new 3G iPhone that is coming out next month and was curious to hear some opinions on the iPhone and AT&T from people that have one now. I'm with Verizon now and am happy with them... just getting the iPhone itch.
What is the coverage like with AT&T on the iPhone? Had any problems in any of the cities you fly to east of the Mississippi?
What about dropped calls... are they common?
Do you get any discount from AT&T on calling plans (with USAirways or ALPA) and if so, how much?
Do you like AT&T?
Anything else???
Thanks.

Just a bias view I am sure. Have been an AT&T...Cingular....and former AT&T customer for about 9+ years and would not use any other.
Friends of mine have had Verizon, Sprint, Nextel.....all seemed to have reception problems and dropped calls much more than AT&T on a whole. I'm sure some of this had to do with actual location and other variables, but all in all, with my travels domestically and Int'l I have received very consistent service.....especially in So. America and Europe. Last I checked, AT&T and TMobile were the only two companies that offered GSM service as well.
If you are an ALPA carrier (one of the few good reasons to be so ), AT&T does give a discount. When I stopped in to an AT&T store, I gave them my ALFCIO code which gives you a certain % off your bill a month, as well as a slight discount on equipment purchases too. Dont remember the discount % as far as the bill goes, but is basically "covers" all the taxes that accumulate on your monthly bill (State, 911 charges, ect...). In the end, you do pay more with AT&T, but with the consistent reception and service that I have experienced....it's worth it.
I hope this info helps......SC

I moved from Sprint to AT&T in October of 2007. The coverage for AT&T has been very good. I travel to/through rural areas up and down the East Coast and while reception can be understandably spotty, overall I'm satisfied. In urban areas or along interstates reception is typically very good.
I live in a suburban/urban area. With Sprint and a relatively new phone, I couldn't get reception in my driveway or standing out in the street in front of my house. Sprint's attitude/service was horrible or non-existant. I'll never go back.
One thing with AT&T, make sure you understand the rebates/plans, although I think that's true with any provider.
Good luck.

The iphone is the best I have the 8 gig but i may get the new one just because. coverage great. Average bill 70 bucks 450min(Roll-over) unlimited internet. word of warning DO NOT GO ON THE INTERNET OUT OF THE COUNTRY. I got hit with a 750$ bill. The customer service is ok they reduced it by 200$ after i attempted to argue it. the only problem I had was some strange charges that I only got after At..t took over so watch your bill. The company internet (CCS) works great. and you can get free porn clips on the road. I think the iphone just might have kept the Flagship guy out of the woods with the FA...........LOL. That would make a great TV spot.

Double check any corp. discount with the iPhone. Word is if you have an iPhone, any discount you had is gone. Also, look for the add-on fees when using an iPhone & make sure they don't charge extra for data, texting, etc. The iPhone is not as cheap as other calling plans by a longshot.
