Site slow, and DB errors.

Hey guys, just a heads up, the site is running a little laggy and taking awhile to post in threads.

Thanks for running a great site!

Blue

I agree. Thought it was just me.

I finally had to make a post about this. Lately the site is totally bogging down on me. Sometimes takes 4-5 clicks to get any movement around the forums. I did a tracert in cmd and turned up nothing as far as bad server hops. I did see this for the first time today and figured I'd post it as well.

I know you guys switched DNS and went with a different server company but it seems that the performance has gone downhill since then. I love the site and let me know if there is any info I can obtain. BTW, I am located in HKG but I have "0" problems with any other US websites other than a higher than normal ping.

Thank you for the feedback! I am experiencing the same issues as you. HSLD is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it ASAP. Thank you for your patience! :)

Same issues here. Glad I'm not the only one!

Flyboyrw 07-29-2008 08:02 PM

my search isn't working either

Cubdriver 07-30-2008 02:34 AM

It truly is the worst ever so I also hope the problem can be fixed. Load times are very very slow and I even get the above database error message sometimes. Thanks for working the issue; I don't want to spend this much of my free time studying!

FlyJSH 07-30-2008 05:34 AM

Yeah, it is running slower. But to HSLD and all the other folks running the site, it is still TONS faster than the annual newsletter that once was the best source. Thanks, keep up the good work.

HSLD 08-01-2008 10:30 AM

If anyone is having problems with delayed page loads, could you please try and post which browser your using.

Thanks!

Cubdriver 08-01-2008 03:22 PM

Foxfire is giving trouble on my home pc. It's intermittent but mostly gives very slow load times. At work I have Internet Explorer and all the same performance problems there too.

11Fan 08-01-2008 05:48 PM

Hey HSLD,

I'll try from my Blackberry to see if it works from here. I tried from home an hour ago using IE on Windows XP with High Speed Cable and I couldn't even get my response to post.

The other site I go to ran fine but sometimes just changing pages in here, it locks up, and just to change pages, I need to get all the way out of IE and go back in and then go directly the the next page.

Whatever is messing with this is really dragging it down and I wish you the best of luck in figuring it out.

As always, your maintenance and support of this site is greatly appreciated.

By the way, used Quick Reply to post this.

Best regards,

11Fan

Follow-on

Here's a quirk. Navigating the site is running faster using the Blackberry. I was able to jump right back in here, even after going all the way out.

Dunno if that's a clue or not.

Thanks again for the site. Can't imagine not having it. It's been a great source of information and managed to make a few friends along the way.

I'm using Firefox on the road and at home. But Safari from the IPhone works fine....

Firefox and IE 7

vagabond 08-02-2008 04:34 PM

Is it a browser issue? I've used IE 7 at work, on both computers at home, on my laptop, at my condo business center and it works just fine. That's five different computers. I must be paying proper homage to the database god! :)

Fire fox, comcast cable, and i have to hit the refresh?forward button 3 times

Shamrock23 08-02-2008 10:53 PM

I have Firefox and IE and Comcast. It seems to work fine in the beginning and then after looking at a 3-4 posts or pages it stops working. Then if you wait a few minutes and come back, it works again for 3-4 (posts or pages) and then stops working. This has been happening for me for the past week or so.

Thanks for that, do you see the problem in IE also? There are quite a few reports of poor Firefox 3 performance. I'm running FF in safe mode right now and it seems to be blazing fast (comparatively).

Yeah I tried this morning with IE and Firefox opened at the same time. IE worked the whole time, even on the same pages that Firefox stopped working. It does seem to work better with Firefox in safe mode but it still occurs.

Thanks

I did the same test and got the same results. I have two monitors and a broadband connection for my pc. I ran IE7 on one and Firefox 2.0.0.16 on the other. After about a dozen clicks the Firefox freezes and IE7 keeps working as normal. I am not sure about websites other than APC.

Firefox 3.0.1

APC's been slow--off and on--for about a week now.

I'm using the latest version of firefox and at times it takes a while to load... when that happens I just click like 7 times in a row and it then loads the page instantaneously... kinda like a Pilot Controlled Lighting airport:D

de727ups 08-11-2008 09:34 AM

I don't have problems when I use IE. I gave up on Opera, though.

alarkyokie 08-11-2008 11:30 AM

Firefox and IE on 100Mb on T3 still like a 172 T/O with toe-brakes applied!

Cubdriver 08-21-2008 03:01 AM

Firefox good for APC now?

I switched to IE when all this slow loading trouble began some weeks ago, a major pain because I had to reorganize bookmarks plus it lets a ton of garbage lodge up in the computer. Firefox doesn't have that problem but as we know isn't compatible with APC. Firefox clears most of the tracking cookies off and in my opinion is a far better piece of software. Today I tried it again. Lo and behold no problem works like a champ...

Tech Maven 08-21-2008 07:27 AM

Firefox is incompatible with this site, I'm afraid. I've quit using it and use Safari (on my mac) and Internet Explorer, and have since had no problems with slow page loads.

the King 08-21-2008 03:09 PM

My Firefox seems to be running APC well again. They came out with several updates in a really short time frame, so perhaps the ship has been righted from both sides if you will.

Cubdriver 08-21-2008 06:46 PM

Yeah it appears the storm has passed. Everyone should get their Firefox out and try it again. If your version of FF is not self updating, then it may still not be fixed since it appears the fix is very recent. I am getting 100% load speed on mine now.
